5.0 out of 5 stars Great for home theater, September 15, 2004

This review is from: Antec Overture Piano Black Quiet Media Case (Personal Computers)
Just got it today and set everything up. The case is super quiet and the blue LED up front is a nice touch. If you are looking for an aesthetically pleasing csae for your living room or family room and want it to blend seamlessly with your other furniture and not stick out like a sore thumb, this is definitely the case for you. The piano black finish matches the rest of my electronic goodies and looks pretty sharp!

Setup was easy. I was essentially just transferring everything over from another case (also by Antec, the Aria...wonderful case also but a little to cramped to work in but looks great). The only real complaint I have, and actually it isn't really a complaint, is that the front mounted IEEE 1394 connector might just be a hair short. I am using a Micro ATX Mobo and the connecting cord BARELY reaches. With a standard ATX board...I don't know if it would make it or not (I have a Foxxconn Mobo and the 1394 connector is in an awkward spot). The front USB and front audio connectors reached with room to spare, however and there really was no maneuverability problems inside the case. The hard drive cage is removable and even has rubber grommets where you attach the drives to dampen some of the noise. Their is a 92mm exhaust fan directly behind the HDD cage and also a 80mm fan on the front right. On the front left is the power supply which would seem to be in an awkward place but works perfectly and is super quiet!

Once everything was assembled, it was noticeably quieter than the Antec Aria and I think it looks fabulous. Well worth the money, and Amazon has it the cheapest anywhere! Go to COMPUSA and look at it and open it then come back to Amazon and order it here.

***EDIT*** 11/16/04 The above reviewer refers to the fact that Amazon.com had the wrong pictures of the interior but have since been removed. He neglected to mention if he or she even bought it or not! The other two pictures of the case with the television above it is from my own home setup in my living room. Take it from me, a very satisfied customer, this is an awesome product. Pay no attention to the above review since all he wanted to do was bring down the rating of this outstanding product. Repeat: 5 stars.

Let me get right to it. This case looks real pretty and it is real quiet. For that I give it high marks. But the interior is a different matter altogether. There is little room to manuever inside. Everything is a tight fit. Also the power supply is in the front of the case. Using this layout I was UNABLE TO use the raid feature of my motherboard because the POWER SUPPLY IS IN THE WAY!!! BUT MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT IS THE LACK OF DECENT DOCUMENTATION!!!! HELLO ANTEC WE NEED TO NOW HOW THINGS ARE CONNECTED TO THE MOTHERBOARD!!!!!! The documentation that was provided showed a diagram that was unreadable. Unfortunately going to their website is NO HELP!!! Overall I would give this case a grade of D.

3.0 out of 5 stars Very Quiet but...., January 20, 2005

If you have a video card with a power plug on the side, like the GeForce FX-5200, avoid this case, there is not enough room between the card edge and the top to plug it in. Overall it is a nice case. Having only 2 5.25 inch drive bays really sucks but what can you expect in a desktop style case? I bought this originally for my regular desktop PC but the video card issue made me go back and buy the tower version. I now use it as a Linux media center with a non external powered video card and it works great.
