5.0 out of 5 stars The Best, September 13, 2003
This review is from: Antec True Control 550 (Personal Computers)
I build computers. With todays hard drives, video cards, processors, and other hardware drawing more and more power, this True Control is the only one that I can currently find that will properly power everything on a fully loaded computer.
If you are not getting enough power, this one has contols that you adjust to up the power of the 12, 3.3, and 5 volt lines in your power settings. VERY nice. Don't waste your money on anything else, get this one.

2.0 out of 5 stars Want more than 3 years out of power supply? Stay away!!!, May 13, 2008
This review is from: Antec True Control 550 (Personal Computers)
Do not buy a power supply with only 3 year warranty, such as this Antec 550. It is an older model but they still float around and there are other Antecs with 3 year warranty there. Mine, the exact same model, died just past the 3 year warranty period. It just quit one day in the middle of boot process. Imagine the aggravation when I pulled the receipt and saw the warranty JUST expired. It was an all-right power supply for 3 years, hence the 2 stars, but at the price range of way over $100 at the time and all the hype about the quality it should have lasted longer. It was used only moderately.

There are other quality manufacturers such as PC Power and cooling and Corsair that have 5 year warranty on their power supplies, and frankly, better product. Had I bought one of theirs 3 years ago, I would be getting me a new replacement power supply. As it is, here goes another $100+.. Warranty matters, if you keep your computers for a while! Hopefully this review will save someone from buying mediocre Antec power products.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Antec True Control 550 (Personal Computers)
After losing computers to other 'brand name' power supplies, and still having problems, I finally got one of these True Control PSU's. WOW. I have now put them in all of our 3 home computers, and in the one for my wife's computer where she teaches at an elementary school. I am getting ready to buy another one, and FROM AMAZON!!! Best price, free shipping, and no sales tax for our area. A deal and a half!!!

Our main computer is super loaded and this PSU runs it all with power to spare. FINALLY.

IMHO
