5.0 out of 5 stars moves air
Moves a lot more air than the same size fan that came with my computer case.
Very quiet when adjusted to low or middle speed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Irritatingly noisy for the cost and air flow
I bought this fan to place in the side panel of a computer. I wasn't sure what speed I wanted and I liked the idea of having a switch to select lo/med/high. Now that I've gotten it I wish I'd selected something else. It looks like a quality fan, is priced like a quality fan, but is irritatingly noisy. I don't know that it's especially loud, but it's got a whine that would...

The manual speed adjustment is a great feature for those of us that do not overclock (therefore do not need alot of air) and just want to keep the case quiet. There was no dramatic decrease in case temperature but I purchased this fan mainly to drop the decibels, not the temperature.

4.0 out of 5 stars Immediate Results, February 13, 2009

This review is from: Antec TriCool 120mm DBB Case Fan with 3-Spd Switch 3/4-Pin & 3-Pin Monitor (Personal Computers)
My box was overheating and crashing to the desktop during certain games and I traced the problem to heat. This fan was highly rated by several reputable online sites so I decided to try it out.

I thought I would enjoy the 3-spd switch and just up the speed when playing games and leave it low for day to day computer use. Unfortunately, I had no easy way of mounting the switch so I could access it from the outside of the case. It didn't matter too much though, since even on its highest speed setting (which I leave it on) you can barely hear it.

The results were immediate and impressive, with double digit (10-14 degress C) drops for case/cpu/video card temps at full load. The switch did nothing for me, but the fan is highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does what it should..., March 10, 2008

I give this fan a 5 because I no longer have to think about it. It's working, its quiet and it was easy to install.

What more can you ask from a fan than to simply do its job and be as unobtrusive as possible? Based on that criteria, this is a 5.

Also love the switch to set how fast/loud/effective it is. I don't need the full control of a fanbus to constantly adjust the value, so the "set it and forget it" switch works well for my application.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very quiet, works great., February 28, 2008
This review is from: Antec TriCool 120mm DBB Case Fan with 3-Spd Switch 3/4-Pin & 3-Pin Monitor (Personal Computers)
I purchased this to add to an Antec Sonata III case. At medium speed it's still very quiet yet moves a decent amount of air. The molex connector is removable so if your motherboard will power the fan you can take it off and not have excess cables hanging.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dependable, Quiet Cooling Option for your PC case, November 26, 2007
This review is from: Antec TriCool 120mm DBB Case Fan with 3-Spd Switch 3/4-Pin & 3-Pin Monitor (Personal Computers)
Does exactly what is says it does...quietly, dependably, and affordably. Easy install. If adventurous you can even use it as an extra side fan with a drill for some small holes in the side of your case. Even this was easy. Keeps the system cool with very little fuss. I like the three speed switch which lets you decide how much air to push, not some automatic thermostat using a temperature gauge on a computer panel. You know when it's HOT! Overall a very good buy and a great product.

I have 3 of these in my case.... they are not the quietest fans but they are pretty quiet at low speed. I like that you can adjust the speed via a switch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Fan Really Cools the Computer, September 4, 2009
This review is from: Antec TriCool 120mm DBB Case Fan with 3-Spd Switch 3/4-Pin & 3-Pin Monitor (Personal Computers)
Using HWMonitor to check my HP d4100e computer temps before installing this fan, the temps ran:
Core 0 = 38c at idle and 47c underload rendering an animation
Core 1 = 39c at idle and 49c underload

I installed the 120mm fan in the d4100e and after leaving the computer on at idle for 2 hours I dropped the temps dramatically.
Core 0 = 29c at idle and 36c underload, rendering the same animation as above.
Core 1 = 30c at idle and 37c underload

The motherboard temps and the hard drive temps dropped 7c to 8c also.

I rendered an animation that takes about 30 mins to render as the load test in both before and after the fan install. Makes a huge difference. Also the CPU fan stays quite as it doesn't need to rev up to keep the CPU cool. I am running the fan on the highest speed setting. While you do hear the fan on the highest setting, it is not as loud as when the CPU fan revs up. The trade off was worth it for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quiet Fan, March 3, 2009

Bought this fan as an original replacement for my Antec Case fan. The original lasted about 3 years before the motor started going out on it. So far so good with this one! Fan is just as quiet as the original, and I do like the 3 speed settings. Definitely recommend this product.
