antec tpq-850,

This is a very stable power supply. If your serious about making a VERY STABLE machine I would definately recommend this product. Quiet and powerful the power supply has exceeded my expectations. There is absolutely no power variance. And you can hook up tons of fans and other devices to it.

I returned this for refund because it was defective, and the defect was so horrible I did not want to try another one. It almost killed my computer the first time. No thanks! Here's what happened: I thought I'd QC this PSU before using it for a new build, so I hooked it up to my other system to boot it up. The old PSU was completely removed, and the new one hooked up correctly. Everything was triple checked. Well, I turn on the power, and all the computer fans kicked in extra loud and fast, and then my very nice DVD burner made horrific noises and a weird burning smell. I tried some things but the short version is that eventually my old trusty Enermax PSU was back in, my DVD burner was toast and needs replacement, and it's suspect that my trusty PC (ASUS A8V/X2 3800+/Corsair DDR400/X1950Pro) is now flaky from some trauma done by this faulty PSU. It's bad enough if the thing is DOA but when it destroys your computer - costing you more time and money - then it starts to make sense to splurge on the really high-end PSU. This one is around $200 which you'd think meant something good about it's quality but it's apparently a "value" version of other similarly feature-rich PSU out there that cost about $50++ more. I thought, "hey what a great deal" when I bought this. Now I have to spend $40 on a new DVD burner. I don't know what else got glitched either, but my PC has started acting a little buggy since that trauma. I thought I'd use this PSU for awhile till X38 mobos come out and I kick off my new build using this 850W PSU. Too bad it's a POS. Hopefully my PC will soldier on a bit longer, despite recent trauma. Hey Antec, what's up with your Quality Control?
Amazon, however, is great, the return process was hassle free. PS: So far I've had good luck with my Thermaltake and Enermax PSU's.

I purchased this power supply as I have the same model in my wife's computer. Hers is a core 2 duo with 8 GB of memory and the power supply works with no problems. My power supply, the same model but 1000 watts, stopped working when I installed a new graphics card which seems non-working. I wanted to use this supply while my 1000 watt psu is repaired by Antec. But this supply also did not work. I received RMA authority from Antec and returned both supplies. I paid for shipping them to Antec. Antec repaired the supplies by sending me 2 1000 watt supplies at no cost to me. I installed one and am using the computer to write this review. The other will go into my AmigaOne X 1000 when I receive the motherboard.
I have found Antec PSU's to be high quality backed by the highest level of service. I recommend their products without reservation and use their cases and PSU's in all computers that I build.

Recently the sli msi nvidea 8800 gtx and my core 2 quad, started freezing the video drivers. After extensive searching, I found out it was because of my 600 w power supply just did not ante the job. After installing this baby, all my video problems went away and my rig is as stable as ever. Great modular power supply.

Had a 750 Watt PS from another vendor. It had a 3 year warranty on it and after 2 years of use it failed. Requested an RMA for it and while waiting I decided to upgrade to a higher output PS. After reading many reviews for 750 watt and higher, this one stood out as one of the best for the price. It has been reviewed by [...] and under full load this unit shined. Antec is a very reilable brand and I'm very pleased with this PS.

Was a bear to install in my Termaltake case. Had to pull off mounting for top accessed usb, etc, to get this beast to fit. HOWEVER, it was worth it.
Just be weary, depending on the case you have, it might be a tight fit. However, it has ample consistent, and efficient power delivery. It does not run hot, nor does it run loud. Running core2, 8gb ram, 5 hdds, 3 optical, 10 usb devices, 2 pci card, and a gtx 260 I have tried other companies powersupplies: Thermaltake, Sparkle, Rosewell, etc, and have never had the same success as the 3 b uilds i have done using antec power supplies. In my opinion, they are simply the best.

Well bundled. Worked out of box. I'm powering a core i7 920 with 6GB of Corsair Dominator DDR3 and an Asus P6T mainboard with BFG's GTX-260 Maxcore GPU. The pull fan on the back is rather quiet for an 80mm fan. After hours of intense gaming, the air pushing out the back was not much warmer than ambient room temperature. I've mounted it in an Antec 902 Case. Only con, wish it was completely modular(nit-picking, I know)

I have built and upgraged many PC's with Antec power supplies. I have never had a power supply problem after installing an Antec. I put this one in my latest gaming rig: Nvidia power hungry GTX295, q9550 quad core cpu, 2 hard drives, usb powered ext. hard drive, usb powered keyboard and mouse, light scribe DVD, 8 fans, neon lights, etc. It runs all this stuff without a hiccup and charges my cell phone. No complaints as usual for this monster 850 watt power supply. Antec is still the best.
