It took me about 5 minutes to remove my old 300W Dell PS and replace it with this one. I have a new video card installed and all is good. This is a great replacement PS as it has older connections and the newer ones too. It has a 6pin lead for video cards and a 4pin lead for the CPU fan.

I bought this power supply to replace the power supply in a Dell Studio 540 MT (mini tower - not the slim version). The original died about 3 and a half years into its use after a storm knocked out the power. The original power supply was always a bit noisy and laboring to run the two drives, original video card and dvd-rw unit. From what I can see by the specs, the original power supply is really only capable of outputting 300 watts consistently rather than the 350 it is rated at.

Anyway, the new ANTEC power supply is a very good buy at 40 bucks. Dell and other sites will sell you a wimpy 350 watt power supply for 60 bucks or more. This power supply comes with a 2 year warranty and is quiet and smooth and gives you 450 watts of power. There are two pairs of cpu power connectors, but the Dell motherboard only has room for one. Other than that, replacing the power supply was pretty straight forward. Rather than run the cables back under the tabs in the Studio 540, I opted to use the locking plastic tie that came with the new power supply to bundle them in an out of the way location. The hardest part is removing the old power supply as all of the cables are secured in 3 different tabs/grooves. Once you find all those and release them, you are home free.

ANTEC power supplies have been around for quite awhile and as long as you don't buy a bargain basement model, you will probably have good results with them.

This PSU is extremely quiet. It produces almost no sound, and gives constant and clean power to my components. However, the cords are way too short. I have this in a CoolerMaster CM 690, so it is mounted at the bottom of the case. The CPU power cord barely made it to the top of the motherboard, and the motherboard power cord was very difficult to plug in. That was not the case with the EA380 that it replaced. Other than that, no issues. I'd recommend this only for cases with top mounted PSUs.

I bought this power supply for my first computer build and I am very pleased! I have been using it for over two weeks now, non-stop, and it has not failed me once. It is actually very quiet (not silent, but quiet). I don't notice any difference in noise when I start playing games such as Skyrim and Left 4 Dead 2. Most of the noise in my computer is coming from the case fan in my Cooler Master Elite 430. I will be upgrading my graphics card soon and I plan on updating my review saying if there are any differences when the power supply is under load. I am currently using about 300-350W.

Update: A couple of weeks ago I updated my graphics card to a XFX Radeon HD 6770 which requires a minimum of 450W and I am glad to say that this power supply has still not failed me once. I am so happy with this purchase.

The way I look at it, a PSU either works or it doesn't. Chances are good that if you are also considering on purchasing a power supply at this price point, you also have the same viewpoint as I. I've always told users that actually putting together and assembling a computer is not difficult at all. The hardest part is purchasing the right parts that goes in to that computer! This power supply has all the juice I need for it to power my budget build and the price looks very attractive as well. Antec, while I believe they are not considered one of the top power supply makers out there in terms of quality wise, they are still a good candidate. I love Antec computer cases (I think they are the same company) and so I would like to think they would make good power supplies as well.

There's really not much else to say. It has the connectors I need and well, the power supply works! What many users want to know is is the thing quiet enough. I can assure you that this unit is pretty much dead silent when in operation. In fact, most power supplies I've come across these days are very quiet as well so you really don't have to worry too much about this issue.

Many experienced PC builders can assure you that you should never, ever skimp on your power supply unit. It is one of the main component that actually gives all your hardware power and so a poorly made power supply can actually increase the chances of it ruining your computer. Although I do admit that I rarely see this, do you really want to take the chance? You could in reality save $10-$15 dollars and get a cheaper power supply but you also should understand the risk of doing so. I believe this Antec power supply is a perfect balance between it being cheap and yet still trustworthy enough for me to put in my build.

I ordered this to attempt a repair on a 4 year old Dell Studio which became a brick after a power outage. I test installed the supply without actually mounting it and it worked immediately. The unit is quiet, barely audible with good airflow. There are enough plugs for more hard drives or DVD recorders than the 1 hard drive and 2 dvd recorders I have, and length of the cables was plenty for this mid tower design. How it holds up in the long run I don't know, but I like it so far... Another piece of equipment saved from the recycler! Long live Windows 7!
