Product Description

ClearStream 5
ClearStream 5 Ultra Long Range HDTV Antenna

The ClearStream 5 VHF/UHF antenna receives free over-the-air digital and HD programming with NO subscription, cable or satellite fees. The ClearStream 5 represents a breakthrough in ultra long range VHF antenna performance. With the uniquely tuned element, the ClearStream 5 takes on the challenge of combining VHF and UHF signals. With a range of 65+ miles for High-VHF stations and a 35+ mile range for UHF stations, this is the ideal antenna for rural or suburban installations challenged with receiving signals through heavy foliage outdoors or roofing materials in attic applications. With DTV stations broadcasting on high-VHF and UHF frequencies, a need exists for a powerful antenna. No other antenna exists in the marketplace that can rival its dual-band performance. This advanced technology allows the ClearStream line of antennas to be smaller and more powerful across today’s DTV spectrum. In a compact 23” x 29” form, the ClearStream 5 is the first broad spectrum antenna without the performance compromises typically seen in outdated designs of legacy antennas. The Antennas Direct Lifetime Warranty assures you of its superior build quality and durability. The ClearStream 5 comes with a UHF/VHF combiner with a weatherproof housing, heavy duty u-bolts, mounting clamps, and hardware (coaxial cable and mount sold separately). Easy to assemble

Enjoy all your local broadcasts from ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, PBS, and other local networks with expanded programming for kids, news, sports, sitcoms and more with no cost or contracts. Imagine never paying a monthly cable or satellite bill to enjoy your favorite shows. Also, the ClearStream 5 antenna is the perfect backup in case of bad weather when your cable or satellite goes out. With an antenna, you can watch your local weather to stay informed.

It was easy to assemble and mount.

It's a great antenna and picked up all the basic local stations (some being 40+ miles away).
Now the network VHF/UHF channels come in steady with no more reception problems.

I live a mere 10 miles from all the major network towers in Los Angeles, so I originally purchased the Winegard HD7694P believing this would be enough for my needs. However, upon mounting it, I did a serious double-take when I found that I couldn't pull in a single VHF station. Turns out my line of sight to Mt. Wilson was blocked by a series of smaller mountains I hadn't noticed, transforming my once "ideal" location into a fringe reception nightmare.

After experimenting with a series of signal amplifiers and swapping in an Antennas Direct DB4 to solve my UHF woes, I finally broke down and bought this unit to address my lingering VHF inadequacies.

I couldn't be more impressed with this antenna. Upon initial installation, I was able to pick up all four of my VHF stations, two of them perfectly. A few minor adjustments to the positioning brought in the other two just as well. I even managed to pull in two extra stations from San Diego, which is 75+ miles to the South. I was also able to get away with mounting this inside the attic, which was a big plus since it is larger and a bit more unsightly than the DB4's I have on the roof.

This antenna is fantastically engineered and I would highly recommend it for anyone having difficulty pulling in VHF stations. If this antenna doesn't solve your problem, then I doubt any other product will.

The only "con" I found with this item was that there were some obvious grammatical and spelling errors on the outside of the box. Maybe the engineers did the packaging too?

Northern Colorado has been deserted by the main network stations. We originally got a DB8 which works great. However, when the VHF stations lost their second channel on the complete change over to DTV, channels 7 and 9 went back to broadcasting on only VHF....and northern Colorado lost their signal. Channel 7 and 9's reply...gee, we're sorry (yeah, that reply is useless). I also note that [...] stopped saying that we'd get coverage in northern Colorado as well (they used to...I think someone screwed up). Most solutions recommended by antenna sites require an antenna the size of a schooner sail....which doesn't last long in the Colorado wind. Then I found the Clearstream 5. I went with this because the footprint is small (survives Colorado wind), and the range is about 65 miles. In Fort Collins, right up against the foothills, I got channel 7 back and channel 9 a lot of the time (I have a tree that needs to be trimmed and we'll see...9 is right on the hairy edge of signal strength). Also, the CS5 came with a duplex module, so I was able to couple my DB8 and my CS5 together into one converter box. Really, the DB8 may not be necessary now because the UHF channels we're interested in are lower in the UHF spectrum. If you need the full range, I recommend a CS5 coupled with the DB8.

NOTE: Amazon whacked antennawebdotorg from my above review. This is one of the primary US sites for estimating television signal strength at a given location-literally house address. We'll see if this attempt goes un-tampered with, or if I'll need to get more creative in embedding the address.

I cannot be happier with this antenna.
Upon a lot of research on the web, I decided to switch from DirecTV to off-the-air antenna and I chose this product.

I live in a hilly place in San Francisco Bay Area (Los Altos Hills) from ~35 miles from the transmission tower in San Francisco. Thankfully, my home is facing north which is the desired direction to the transmission tower.

I was worried that if it would receive only the VHF channels (ABC and NBC in our area), but it receives most of the UHF channels with great quality.

Here is the list of channels that I'm getting:
(the only channels that it cannot receive at my place is 14.1 and 14.2)

2.1 KTVU - HD
2.2 KTVU - SD

I was skeptical when purchasing this antenna as "breakthrough's" in antenna's have been few and far between. Also, the recommendation came from AntennasDirect who manufactures the CS5.

The ClearStream 5 lives up to it's promises. I purchased this for OTA signals in a remote area that is heavily wooded. I bought this because I was convinced I'd have to mount on the roof. For cosmetic reasons I wanted the antenna to be as small as possible.

On a whim I decided to try an attic mount and to my surprise I have picked up all of the OTA signals I'd wanted to get with a good signal.

Planning to add a pre-amp and distribute the signal throughout the house.
