With this antenna on my roof I am able to pull in the PBS station that broadcasts from 36 miles away and is partially obscured by closer transmitters. I like my free over the air (OTA) high definition HDTV. I get a lot of great programming, more than I have time to watch. I think the cable and phone companies prices are just too high for what they offer. This antenna cost me just over two hundred bucks to install including the antenna mount, grounding rod, wiring, 2.3 GHZ splitters and lighting arrestor. I pay only twenty bucks a month now with my Ooma free home phone service, my HDTV antenna, and my "value" level broad band internet. My T-mobile prepaid cell phone at the gold level costs me about eight to twelve bucks per month. Yes, you can live the good life for less!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good for fringe VHF, February 26, 2010

I bought this antenna to compliment my hi-gain UHF Antenna Antennas Direct 91XG Uni-directional HDTV Antenna and pick-up a couple low-VHF HD stations. I've mounted both in my attic and can pull signal from towers ~45 miles away using a Winegard AP-2870 Dual Input Pre-Amplifier. The antenna alone was able to pull strong/direct channels reliably; the amplifier simply made more channels reliable. I'd almost certainly get better reception moving the antennas out of the attic, I simply don't want the maintenance/risk of damage from mounting them outside.
A word of caution- this thing is HUGE. The little picture makes it look cute, maybe you could hide it behind the sectional or maybe behind the drapes? NO. You cannot park this in a compact parking spot. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT extend the elements before installing in the attic, if you go that route. Also make sure you have a large enough attic. Remember the narrow end is pointed towards the tower- It will work reversed, just not as well.

Comcast bumped our rate up again in May. Dish or Comcast, Dish or Comcast? OH yeah all the over the air went digital in June 09. Bought one of these. Went to Lowe's and got some galvanized electrical pipe. Built a 25 foot mast and hooked one of these babies up with a preamp. Now we get well over 20 channels for free. That's worth over $600 a year in my pocket. I joined the local country club!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great antenna, highly directional, September 14, 2010

Moved to Ewing, NJ from Columbus, OH - had used a DB4 antenna there. Philadelphia stations all in a direct line from here, but due to interference issues, ABC out of Philly was left at old VHF channel 6, and very low power, comparatively speaking - unfortunately the DB4 is strictly a UHF/high VHF antenna. This antenna allows for all VHF/UHF reception. Mounted on an 8 foot post placed in a 5 gallon bucket filled with rock and pebbles sitting on the ground, picking up all stations out of Philadelphia no problem. (Temporary installation - renting a house.) Used with a CDA4 from [...] to allow for splitting to two different TiVos.
As noted in other reviews, this antenna is highly directional - but given that all the stations are within 2 degrees of one another (determined with[...]), not an issue. Also not a small antenna - if you're lucky and close to your transmitter, check out the DB2 antenna from [...] - easy use indoors.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Antenna for HDTV, June 12, 2009
This review is from: Antennas Direct V21 High Gain UHF / VHF Antenna (Electronics)
A little complicated of an install for 4 TV's off one Antenna when there was nothing to start, but sure beats rabbit ears! Only complaint is how directional it is. I have on channel that is offline from the others, and I don't get it at all. But if I am it to receive that one, I loose all the others. Make sure you need such a directioanl antenna. Otherwise, A+++

5.0 out of 5 stars Works well in Attic, November 10, 2011

Installed this in attic and it works great! Transmitters are no farther then 34 miles. Bought this as overkill since it was going in an attic. The weakest signal I have is 81%. Even picks up channels it's not pointed at. We will see how well it keeps the signals during a snow storm but I don't think it will have any problem.

Have not installed it yet.Appears to be well built, however, package was smashed on one end and taped up with insulator smashed, element bent and element end plug missing. Since it was taped up, damaged item was sent or damaged along the way.Customer service scheduled to send me insulator but still have to straighten two elements and find one end plug.
