About the Author

Michelle L. Murray, PhD, RNC, is an international educator, author, and expert in obstetric nursing. Dr. Murray's company, Learning Resources International, Inc. produces clinical and educational products and seminars for labor and delivery nursing and midwives. Since 1986, more than 50,000 obstetric care providers, including nurses, physicians, and midwives, have participated in Dr. Murray's classes and seminars. I have just received the 3rd edition with a 2007 publishing date. On review of the references for the first 4 chapters, I have not found one newer than 1996. The reference for MAS is the AHA dated 1992. Meconium management has changed greatly in the last 15 years. In 1997, NICHD published guidelines for the standardization of EFM language. These have been adopted by ACOG and AWHONN. This language is not used. ACOG published a postition paper on fetal monitoring in 2005, also not mentioned. The tracings are wonderful, but the 3rd edition appears to not have been updated at all. Save your money- if you want the tracings, buy the older edition second hand.
Best I can tell all that has changed is a new publication date.
