The first thing to say is that if you are only interested in Jerry Lee's rock'n'roll music, you should forget this compilation. There is some of that music here (the first fourteen tracks on the first CD) but it is covered in much greater depth on other compilations. While it's nice to have some of his rock'n'roll stuff here, the real reason to buy this collection is to discover just what a fantastic country singer Jerry Lee became. He is never given the credit he deserves for this aspect of his music.

The country music begins with track 15 on CD 1. For me, the last seven tracks of the first CD are the highlight of the whole set. Another place another time begins the sequence, which also includes What's made Milwaukee famous (covered by Rod Stewart among others), To make love sweeter for you, Don't let me cross over (a duet with Linda Gail Lewis) and One has my name the other has my heart.

The whole of the second CD is filled with great country music, with just an occasional nod to his past, including a great revival of Chantilly lace. The outstanding song here is a cover of an even older song, Over the rainbow, sung with an edge suggesting he knows that the dream is not going to come true. Other notable tracks include She even woke me up to say goodbye, Meat man and Thirty-nine and holding, but as the compilation title proclaims, there is no filler here.

If you enjoy hearing Jerry sing country as well as rock'n'roll, this is the strongest compilation so far released. I note, as I write this, that it has now become a collector's item. Before paying a premium price, check Jerry's other available albums, or write to Rhino records pleading for them to re-issue this set. Compilations do not usually command high prices, so the fact that this one does shows how good it is.

Talkin about rock and roll. Jerry Lee Lewis is the real thing.
Nearly everybody knows the classical stuff. Great Balls of Fire, Whole lotta, High School etc. This is hellraising striped to the bone rock and roll, and it realy feel you with joy, listning to it. Also the country stuff is great to listning to. But to more modern tracks like Drinking Wine Spo-dee odee, and Rockin my life away realy kicks youre soul in gear.
Nobody can fills his shoes, when it comes to hellraising pumping, thumping, rock and roll. He are what he are, and we love him for that. I am what i am too, and maybe more will find his soulmate listning once in a while to the "real thing" and what realy rock and roll realy is. Jerry Lee just rules on this one.

When I'm ripping thru the gears I like to have the killer with me. This 2 CD set fills the bill. Put "Rocking my life Away" on and let your tires spin.

All Killer, No Filler: The Anthology is an amazing collection that was released 1994 and contains 42 songs that are from the mid 1950's to the 1980's. Jimmy Guterman wrote the linernotes and along with many fine pictures and a personel list for every single track. Here we get amazing tracks as "Whole lot of shakin' going on", "Great Balls of fire" and so many more. 5/5.

In addition to all the songs everybody thinks of when you think of ol' Jerry Lee, there are a whole host of really fine tunes that I can't remember hearing before, but am glad I have now.

Recording playback quality is better on this collection than others.

There are a very few artists who have received the ultimate honour of having been inducted into both the R&R and Country Music Halls of Fame as performers. Elvis Presley in 1986 and 1998; Johnny Cash in 1992 and 1980; Brenda Lee in 2002 and 1997; The Everly Brothers in 1986 and 2001. And that's it, folks.

Believe it or not, the great Jerry Lee Lewis, a first-year R&R Hall of Fame inductee in 1986, has yet to be acknowledged by the Country Music version. This for a guy who, after being black-balled by the mainstream establishment in the late 1950s for his marriage problems, switched gears when he couldn't get air time with his R&R offerings and began churning out one Country hit after another.

Counting his earlier R&R efforts, which had also crossed over to the Country [and R&B] charts, he chalked up 65 Country hit singles from 1958 to 1989, including six # 1 hits, and put 49 into the Top 40. Not to mention Country albums sold in the millions. That more than matches Brenda Lee's Country accomplishments, and as for The Everly Brothers, they never even came close. That is not to suggest that Brenda and the Everly's were wrongly inducted. Far from it. But how can they include them and continue to ignore Jerry Lee?

As reviewer Peter Harris says, this magnificent 2-CD set provides only some of the best of his Country efforts, but what is here is outstanding. And the music is topped off by some of the best liner notes you will ever read, contained in a 50-page booklet and written by Jimmy Guterman, author of Rockin' My Life Away: Listening To Jerry Lee Lewis. There are also numerous photographs and a complete discography of the contents.

Note that the version of Drinking Wine Spo-Dee O'Dee was the one recorded for Mercury in 1973 and not the original Sun rendition which may be found on several other Lewis compilations.

Outside of the multi-disc and very expensive box set, this is the best Jerry Lee Lewis compilation ever produced.

Even if you ain't no Jerry Lee fan, I think you would be after listening to this collection. Bet you can't keep your feet still! This makes my pants want to get up and dance!!!

If I had to get rid of all my CD's except one, this would be the one I'd keep.

I love the Killer's rockn' pumpn' style best. But sometimes 'ya just gotta lay back, chill out and love those beautiful country hits too. It's all here. Very, very enjoyable.
