As most Charly McClain fans know, Charly's sweet distinctive voice has disappeared from the country music scene. If you ask todays country music fans if they know the name Charly McClain, often times you will get a puzzled answer "no". That is a shame. She was among the first wave of the contemporary country sound.

The double CD Anthology is the best compilation of her work to date. It gives you the earliest recordings from her debut of the late 70's to the more contemporary sound of late 80's. This release is very important as a large portion of these tracks were unavailable due to the out-of-print statis of the several original albums Charly had recorded since 1977.

The packaging is very well thought out. Each CD printed with a different photo of Charly--picture discs of sorts.

This collection stirs that curiosity of why Charly is not still recording.

You cannot go wrong by obtaining your own copy of Anthology. It is more than just a greatest hits collection. It is a true cross-section of Charly's work.

This is the Charly McClain compilation to buy as it you will get 2 CD's, with 34 tracks spanning her entire career on Epic Records which is what draws the consumer in seeking this compilation. In addition to all of her charted singles released, you will get many choice album cuts and lesser known singles. The liner note booklet features not only the liner notes, but it also features some publicity photos and thumbnails of many of her original albums that you now have to go to the used vinyl shops in order to buy them although "Portfolio" which is a single disc greatest hits album was released on CD and the same with the "Biggest Hits" comp pictured was also released on CD. The only reason why the singles from her Mercury album were not included is not because they didn't go in the top 40 is that they would have to spend extra money licensing the songs from Polygram (now Universal Music), in other words for copyright reasons. As I said, if you are lucky to find this 2 CD set, snatch it up right away and this is what is going to replace "Ten Year Anniversary" (which has only 10 of these songs) in my collection and unfortunately Charly wasn't on hand to write comments about each of the songs included in the compilation. That said, this is the only collection of Charly McClain hits you'll ever want for your collection.

Having been a fan of Charly McClain for many years I have been unable to find any of her CD's with the songs I want. I have most of her albums but wanted some of my favorite songs on a CD to listen to in the truck. I now have this 2CD Collection and it is awesome. It has all my favorites plus some I had never heard. I agree...what a talent that so many could learn from.

I HAD FORGOTTEN ALL ABOUT THIS WONDERFUL ARTIST UNTIL I RECENTLY HEARD A SONG OF HERS ON THE RADIO, I THEN WENT OUT TO FIND HER MUSIC AGAIN, I HAD THEM ALL BACK IN THE 70'S AND 80'S, NOW I AM ENJOYING HER ALL OVER AGAIN. SUCH A SHAME SHE IS STILL NOT ON THE CIRCUIT. WE ARE MISSING A WONDERFUL VOICE.

I once listened to Radio Heart & With Just One Look In Your Eyes from a country compilation tape. I couldn't help falling in love with this beautiful voice after the first listen! I'm a Chinese. It's not easy to get the original CD by American country singer. So, having a compilation CD like this has been my long-time dream! The dream has never been realized until today!

This collection contains every Epic single released by Charly McClain except "When Love Is Right," the title song from her duet album with husband Wayne Massey. The collection contains the first single, "Lay Down," as well as her numerous number one and top ten hits. My favorites will always be "Still I Stay," "Radio Heart," "Don't Touch Me There," "Surround Me With Love," "So This Is Love," "Sentimental Ol' You," "When It's Down To Me And You," and "You're A PArt of Me". Wouldn't it be cool for Epic to re-release her old albums in CD format. That will never happen! Missing from the collection are the singles released on the Mercury CD: "Sometimes She Feels Like A Man," "Down The Road," "One In Your Heart, One On Your Mind," "and "You Got The Job." I heard that someone had found old tapes of early music by Charly before she was famous, and was trying to get the permission to release it on CD. Would that be great or what?

My only regret is that Charly wasn't on hand to give a short narrative or introduction to each song in the liner notes. I would've been cool to have her share her thoughts on the materials she's recorded over the years! I know she is retired and living in marital bliss, and I'm happy for her! But I miss her something awful! Pick up this outstanding collection while you can and thanks to Renaissance Records for making this collection possible!

I'm only 18 years old, but when I was younger, my parents owned a record of Charly's. I used to listen to it all the time, until the record player finally wore out, and I had no way to listen to her. I've been looking for her on CD for a very long time, and at last I've found the perfect answer for what I was looking for! This music is meant to reach everyones ears. ITS PERFECT!!!

This 2 CD compilation contains Charly's EPIC hits as well as other EPIC selections from past releases. Not all selections were previously released as singles. Great selection of songs the way on Charly McClain can sing them! Leaves you wanting more from Charly since her retirement in the early '90's. This release is sure to leave the typical Charly McClain fan wondering why she retired. Maybe Charly would come out off retirement to record again?

i just wanted to thank renaissance records for their many fine complilations that they have put out over the past twelve months. at least one record label has the guts to make artists such as charly mcclain, deborah allen and louise mandrell available on the cd side. these female artists produced great country music and when compared to the schlock us country fans must put up with today, can you say shania twain?????????, this cd is a nice change of pace. all the hits are here and the booklet actually has some substance. charly mcclain was ahead of her time and us fans of hers can only have memories of these fine tunes, as she has gone unheard for the last decade. any country fan who wants good tunes from a great singer, thi s cd is a must.

The Anthology CD by Charly McClain can quiet simply be described as Country Music at its Best! Shania & Reba could certainly learn a thing or two about Country Music from this compilation.

You more than get your money's worth with its 34 tracks, which include duets with Mickey Gilley, Wayne Massey & Johnny Rodriguez. The only thing wrong with this CD is that it leaves you begging for more.
