An overlooked Gem in the Emo World...Sure to be a classic.., May 26, 2003
This review is from: Anthology (Audio CD)
Christie Front Drive's sound is described as being somewhat slow and melodic, but still packs a lot of energy. The guitars are always driving the melody of the song and intricately play off each other, bringing about complex melodies. An interesting fact about the band is that they put the vocals lower in the mixes in recording. While you can't really understand the lyrics too well, it makes it so that the instruments and vocals blend together and create a unique sound. Emo fans of today should by this album mainly for the nostalgic aspect. It compiles all of their early seven inches and compilation tracks with the exception of one. For future reference, they also have a split on Crank! Records with Boy's Life and for future projects, check out Antarctica which is kind of like New Order hooking up with emo. The Blue Ontario was another post project of this band who's album is next to impossible to find, and finally, check out the Mighty Rime right here on Amazon for an even more unique experience post Christie Front Drive. Hope this was helpful.

A true original., October 30, 2005
This review is from: Anthology (Audio CD)
This compiles the tracks from first 12" their first 7" and the two tracks from the a split 7 inches with Sineater and Jimmy eat world. This is Christie front drive's earliest currently documented works. Their vinyl releases still get a spin once a week, and even after 10+ years, it still manages to take me back. Christie front drive hold a bit of a more nostalgic feeling than most. It just hits you in that way that is sometimes beyond explanation. Honestly, everything this band ever released is simply breathtaking. I forget where I heard this, but it was said: "Christie front drive was the band that Jimmy eat world always wanted to be".
So very true.

cool band, September 19, 2005
This review is from: Anthology (Audio CD)
back in the day...Christie Front Drive were unjustly lumped into the whole emo/screamo thing when it first cropped up. but there sound is alot more like a good alternative rock sound ala Nirvana (without the screaming). actually, one very cool thing about this band is their restraint, esp. in the vocal department. the singer's voice stays cool and very rarely does he overdo it. the music flows with melodic and heavy guitar parts and a very solid bass/drums. the songs are simple in nature, but very well done. there are not a million tempo changes and timing switch ups; just good rock. they were a cool band.
