It's great, but...why?,

This review is from: Anthology (Audio CD)
I am a long time Colin Blunstone fan, and thought that it would be great to supplement my collection with this CD. It's not a bad CD, but the thing that bothers me most about it isn't even the music--it's the many misspellings in the liner notes. I know, I know, that shouldn't even enter into a review of a CD by a wonderful singer, but it was a little annoying. All of the songs sounded great, although I had to get used to the new, more "modern" sound of "Tell Her No". I have to admit that when I heard it the first time, I absolutely hated it, and couldn't figure out why. Then after repeated listenings, I realized that the song could indeed be "modernized" and didn't have to sound as it did in the 60s. There was only one nitpick over the music, though--"Say You Don't Mind" sounded quite odd. I'm not sure if it was some musical magical trickery that made the final note sound like that, but it was not attractive at all. Age can't be an excuse, because Blunstone can still hit that note (although I think that they've transcribed the song in later years) quite well. Although it sounds like I've been overly nit-picky, I do indeed enjoy it, and would recommend it to even a new Blunstone fan.
