ODD MATERIAL CHOICE,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Anthology: North South East West (Audio CD)
Inevitably, when obtaining a compilation package, the reviews tend to focus on favorite songs left off the set. Here, quite the opposite, I'm taking mild issue with what was included. The first 7 tracks are Split Enz recordings. Now, no doubt that TF played an integral part in that fabulous band, but do we really need all those tracks once again? They're all on numerous SE "best of's", and most real SE fans will have also purchased the excellent remasters released a few years ago. So, why waste precious space on these tracks again? Also, even though the ad text above trumpets "Crowded House" material, there are no CH-recorded tracks, just remakes of 3 CH songs. So, again, if they included the Split Enz material, why no Crowded House? This was released on Capitol, where CH resides, so there should have been no licensing issues. Sorta strange. There's plenty of other fantastic TF material, both from his own albums, and others where he guested, that coulda-shoulda been included here. On the technical side, however, all the material has been excellently remastered, so I do highly recommend adding this set to your TF collection.
