4.0 out of 5 stars The Definitive Peabo Compilation.... January 14, 2003
By Seand67
Format:Audio CD
...Would be complete if it included Bryson's AWESOME duet with Regina Belle titled, you guessed it, 'A Whole New World'!! Yes, that Grammy-nominated classic song was not included on this 2 CD anthology, and that mistake costs the CD 1 star in my rating.(They also forgot Peabo's duet with Celine Dion titled 'Beauty & The Beast'!!) On the other hand, you do get the BEST collection-overview of Peabo's long career. There are rare songs from his debut album, and the classic songs from Peabo's Capitol era are presented in thier full-length splendor (I hate edits!!), and the remastering makes the sound quality top notch. Music from Peabo's tenure at Columbia is also included, and the informative liner notes were written by the reliable David Nathan. In short, this 2 CD Peabo Bryson Anthology is missing a few key tracks ('A Whole New World' & 'Beauty & The Beast' for example!!), and there was enough space on either of the 2 discs to add more music, so there's no excuse for Capital to use. My ratings on a scale of 1-10:Sound Quality (Rating=10), Song Selection (Rating=7.5), and Packaging (Rating=9). This is a great collection of music from one of the premier singers of our time. Now, how about a Peabo Brson Duets CD' ?? That would be great!! S.D. (of 'Chaka's World')

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Peabo but not All! January 15, 2001
Format:Audio CD
This 2 CD set covers most hits from 10976-1991. It includes his pop hits Can You Stop The Rain, If Ever Your In My Arms Again, Tonight I Celebrate My Love (with Roberta Flack) and his breakthrough pop hit Lover's After All (with Melissa Manchester). It also includes his most popular soul hits like his #1 re-make of Al Wilson's Show & Tell, plus Reachin' For The Sky, Gimme Some Time (with Natalie Cole), Let The Feeling Flow and All My Love. He does the Stephanie Mills/Teddy Pendergrass clasic Feel The Fire. A remake of Doobie Brother's Minute By Minute and a mediocre version of Janis Joplin's Piece Of My Heart (which was not even a chart hit for him!). I would have liked to see other cuts like his first chart hit Do It With Feeling (with Michael Zager) and Take No Prisoners. This set will compliment his Columbia Greatest Hits collection. Don't forget his hit with Kenny G, By The Time This Night Is Over on Kenny's Hits CD! Complete!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Soulful Early Work May 2, 2001
Format:Audio CD
it's Peabo's Early Material that really is the Highlight for me.from 77-to the early 80's His Material really had so much Feeling&SOul.as a Voclaist He was on point as well as a Composer&Musician. His later stuff got a Watered Down in Spots but overall this is a Dude that has Skills.but i had to think of all of the Material here.I Prefer His Older Material Better.

4.0 out of 5 stars Long overdue but finally available. July 19, 2003
Format:Audio CD
It's more than about time that Peabo Bryson had a comprehensive anthology like this one (which is very good). Capitol should reissue all of his big 1970s and '80s albums including "I Am Love", "Crosswinds", "Reaching For The Sky" and the Roberta Flack collaboration "Born To Love", however.

5.0 out of 5 stars He's simply the best January 28, 2001
Format:Audio CD
THis album was not a disappointment at all. He is just fantastic and this is worth the money. The only song missing on this CD (although I guess it was never a major hit) is one called Lets Apologise. I cannot find it anywhere and it is the best song ever. It was on an album called Take No Prisoners and it's as if it's disappeared from the face of the earth. Other than that, about every song you love of his is here. Go buy this now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great way to be introduced to Peabo Bryson November 30, 2001
Format:Audio CD
You simple can not go wrong with purchasing this disc. Nearly every hit and near hit is featured on this disc. I was introuced to Peabo at the age of 2 with his 1983 release with Roberta Flack. It served as my parents anniversary album, which I highly recommend locating on disc - but it will be extremely hard, since it's been out of print for nearly a decade.
Anyhow, back to this disc. It contains his works on Bang records in 1976, his famous Capitol stuff 1978-1983, the so-so Elektra years 1984-1988 and then the ok Columbia years 1991-?. This disc gives you an overall look at his body of work. If you get hooked, which more than likely you will, finding the albums these songs came from will be difficult, since Capitol and Elektra have not re-released anything. So find those resell shops and good luck. Pay special attention to "Lover's After All" with Melissa Manchester. That song may have you listening to her stuff too, I know I started.
Overall, you simply cannot do wrong by buying this release. Do it soon!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's about time! August 3, 2001
Format:Audio CD
"I can make it better" this was from Peabo's first LP on the Bang record. Most greatest hits/anth project don't do a good job of putting the best songs on the project. Well, this time they got it right. "I'm so into you" is also on this cd. Buy it, buy it, buy it! If you don't like, write me, I need to talk to you!
p.s. Peabo is better than Luther
