Great for Learning Tai Chi at Home, February 9, 2001
This review is from: Anthology T'ai Chi & Qigong: The Prescription for the Future - ENTIRE 3 VOLUME SET [VHS] (VHS Tape)
In his book "The Complete Idot's Guide to Tai Chi and Qigong", Tai Chi Master Bill Douglas recommends that the best way to learn Tai Chi is to find a good teacher and take lessons. The problem for people like me is finding the time to add another rigid slot on an already full and ever changing calander (that's why I needed Tai Chi in the first place). After several weeks of looking for a good teacher at a good time, I ordered Mr. Douglas's video series. The bottom line is that I learned to do the Yang long form at times that were convenient for me and from a great teacher. Master Douglas carefully leads you through all that you need to see and know to "play" Tai Chi. It was fun to learn and it has been more than just fun to incorporate Tai Chi into my lifesyle. This is not to say that it was easy, on the contrary it required me to "play" hard over a long period of time before I completed the program. But Master Douglas methodically showed me each step of the way. If you sincerely want to learn Tai Chi, this is a great video series.

Effective, worth the price, October 2, 2001
This review is from: Anthology T'ai Chi & Qigong: The Prescription for the Future - ENTIRE 3 VOLUME SET [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I almost balked at the price of this set, but there's a lot of good info in it. My schedule never allowed me to take lessons, and I was concerned about the efficacy of lessons delivered via the TV set. However, once I tried the set my concerns were alleviated.

Comprehensive, easy to understand, friendly, inspirational., November 16, 1999
This review is from: Anthology T'ai Chi & Qigong: The Prescription for the Future - ENTIRE 3 VOLUME SET [VHS] (VHS Tape)
When reviewing these videos, one is first impressed by its author and on-camera instructor, Bill Douglas. His comfort and knowledge of his subject, his ease of delivery, and his thoroughness in explanation, both in setting up the premise of T'ai Chi and then in demonstrating each of the moves, provide the next best thing to actually being in his class. And, having the opportunity to continually review the video as one learns the progressive T'ai Chi moves, it makes it simple to learn it the right way. Finally, the natural setting in which Bill does his collective moves (a beautiful park in a lake-side setting in Kansas City) moves one's soul. All in all, a great value and a moving experience!
