The great Ventures don't deserve this cheap,

I'm a longtime Ventures fan, waiting for a proper anthology which could trace the legendary recorded legacy of this band. Starting with their 60's beginning, 70's, 80's, until now, although not as strong as the former decades.
When I purchased this, I didn't read the list. I saw "Anthology", went for it. What I got is: Two CDS, with 14 songs Each(!); with a lot of room wasted, in blank. There are at least 400 hundred Ventures songs that can be put together in 5 Double CDs compilations to cover ONLY the sixties.(Here you have 28 songs= 1CD) The label, Microwerks, sucks. The digipak is cheap, CDs cramed in pockets in the same digipak, ready for scratches, dust, fingerprints, etc. So, buyers and Ventures fans, beware: AVOID this at all costs. although the sound is clear and crisp, it's not 24-bit, a real shame in this advanced technological time we're living in. Just wait for some intelligent label/people to do proper justice to that great instrumental outfit. |
