Editorial Reviews

Chef, author, and world traveler Anthony Bourdain knows that in the world of a cook, an understanding and appreciation of how others eat is akin to discovering secret societies and cryptic subcultures. In his Emmy winning series, No Reservations, Bourdain goes local once again, exploring the down-to-earth delights of street food, stepping outside of his native Manhattan to taste what s off the island in NYC Outer Boroughs, and falling in love with Vietnam all over again.

Anthony Bourdain continues in his usual style to travel the world and investigate food obsessions of all kinds. In this latest season he even starts to get a bit more philosophical about food, places, and people. I especially enjoyed seeing places that are not on the tourist radar such as Montana and Brittany in this collection. Travellers and food lovers will enjoy as always!

I own a few No Reservation collections, and this mix of content might just be my favorite, with the Vietnam episode being my favorite. It helped inspire me to finally take the plung and buy some flights to SE asia with a definite planned stop at the Lunch Lady in Saigon! If you love the show, you will love the collection mix here!

Great new places or great new views of old favorites.

Australia - Not bad for a penal colony, just make sure you take a knife on your walkabout.

Buffalo/Baltimore/Detroit - A must see before they are gone or before there football teams move.

Down on the Street - Got to watch if you like street meat.

San Francisco - Gateway to Alcatraz.

Thailand - Anthony is the one to show us this place.

Montana - More than just cows.

NYC Outer Boroughs - Gets you out of the city.

Vietnam: No place like home - No K-rations here.

Brittany - Looks like a place for the bucket list.

Obsessed - What is left when you check it off the list.

Provence - Big taste for a city in our smallest state.

Bonus Features - you can say it is a bonus if you want.

Bourdain is smart, witty, insightful, sarcastic, serious (?), flippant and creative at all the right times in all the right places.

Tony Bourdain is one one of my vagabond connoisseurs. He's a five-star chef with a four-letter vocabulary. If he wasn't such a bad boy, I would be in love with him. Sooooo, I'll just love his wit, edgy charm and willingness to take a food dare.
