5.0 out of 5 stars awesome flippin video, February 8, 2009
By
All I can say is wow! I bought this on VHS when it first came out so glad its finally on DVD. out of all the live videos and dvd's that i have in my collection none of them are as clear or nicely produced as Anthrax's N.F.V.the sound quality is amazing and really has been a basis for comparison for me ever since it came out. Heavy as Hell, tight, and just amazing. This version of Medusa totally blew me away. I've seen Anthrax live probably about 3 times over the years and I will say this: This video actually captures the the power and intesity of the actual performance. Put it in crank the surround sound sit back and see them just like you were back in 1987.

4.0 out of 5 stars By now we've all learned rap and metal should never mix, October 17, 2011
This review is from: Live Noize (DVD)
Anthrax, live, touring in support of their Persistence of Time CD. I saw this tour when they blew in to town to support Iron Maiden on their No Prayer for the Dying tour. This concert DVD has all the big Anthrax songs except for Madhouse. These guys were probably at their peak with Joey Belladonna on lead vocals at this time. Watching this video, these guys have the stage show, have the sound, and had their image down. By this time, Scott Ian had shaved his head and drummer Charlie Belledonte had cut his hair really short. These guys still rock the jams and showed their sheer power on stage. If these guys were ever going to break to give either Megadeth or Metallica a run for their money, this would've been the time to do it. This concert is just slightly under one hour. No drum solos, no extended guitar solos, really just the songs. When the guys finished their set, they show why they never truly made it to the next level. They were so hell-bent on flying the flag that mixed rap and metal which never was truly accepted. Not to sound in any way racist, but metal music in America at least, is for the majority a white audience. The opposite is true for rap music. The real joke is when you see these white bread boys trying to act black, it just doesn't work. Guys you're not black so don't try to act so. The end of this concert, the band break into their, "I'm the man" shtick which is comical but really nothing more. To make matters worse, they bring the guys from Public Enemy as well as Iced T and a few others who I don't know because I don't listen to rap music on stage to celebrate their crossover "hit" Bring the Noise. At that point, the stage resembles a circus and the guys from Anthrax are left being the joke even though they aren't aware of it. When they were the opening band for Iron Maiden, they couldn't pull such tricks. As headliners at this California show, they could have after delivering a fantastic set, destroy all credibility by encoring with his rap/metal hybrid crap. What a shame really because these guys were a great metal band but unfortunately were hell-bent on trying to fly a flag of rap/metal but just turned off many true metalheads. If you're a fan of Anthrax's music, you'll love the first 45 minutes of this DVD. The last 15 minutes should just be skipped. That is unless you want a good laugh. Boys, you only have yourself to blame for not recognizing your true strengths and being truly one of the big four. You are only lumped in with those other bands because of what you did with albums such as Among the Living or Spreading the Disease, metal masterpieces. The rap stuff even though you may have been innovators was the albatross around your neck. Seriously, look at the circus on the stage at the end of the show, laughable. On my copy, I could barely hear Scott Ian's guitar.

5.0 out of 5 stars ..IT'S ABOUT TIME!.., July 7, 2009
By
..i still own this on VHS, and i still watch it (time to get the DVD, yaay!). This was taped back when Anthrax was still..ANTHRAX! And man, does it kick a$$. The classic "Among The Living" lineup (with Belladonna on vocals), before the grunge/nu-metal "trends" ruined Anthrax, thrash & speed metal. I don't know the personal drama between Belladonna and the others, but, after they kicked him out, they completely simmered down, unlike the Anthrax i saw on the Road to Euphoria in '88, and on this dvd..

..anyway, crank it up, pop open some suds, and ENJOY!
