Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

As more pets succumb early to cancer and other illnesses, their owners are searching for alternative forms of treatment. Simon has over 25 years of experience combining traditional and alternative forms of therapy. Together with canine behaviorist Duno, he has written a guide for the lay reader to use in concert with qualified veterinary consultation. The plan recommends dietary, environmental, and lifestyle changes along with regular veterinary check-ups, tests, and advanced medical and surgical techniques. The first section examines the aging process and how it affects each of the dog's organs and bodily functions. Part 2 covers preventive practices such as weekly home exams, exercise, grooming, diet, and obedience training. The final section discusses therapies for specific conditions. Readers will be interested in the authors' other books, including What Your Dog Is Trying To Tell You (LJ 3/1/98). Recommended for larger public libraries.?Edell Marie Schaefer, Brookfield P.L., WI

5.0 out of 5 stars It's never to late to start, November 27, 2001

This review is from: Anti-Aging for Dogs: A Longevity Program For Man's Best Friend (Mass Market Paperback)
I've started using some of the recommendations on my 12 year old Golden & there is definately some improvement! (He seems younger now than he did a year ago).

A GREAT BOOK! Takes a week or two to start noticing improvements. Well laid out and concise.

No index at the back, so difficult to quickly reference info. However, book is well laid out so that once you're read it you have a good idea of where to find information.

Would be helpful if there was an "update" website - or some way of getting more current information - as science is always finding new information.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you only buy one dog book, buy this book, August 11, 2008
This review is from: Anti-Aging for Dogs: A Longevity Program For Man's Best Friend (Mass Market Paperback)
This is a great overview of every system and how to keep your dog living closer to the intended years it was designed for IN GREAT health. Dogs life spans have shortened considerably and they now get conditions and diseases they NEVER got before we started feeding and treating them the "modern way". Love this book, have extra copies to loan out and keep it as a reference tool for myself even though I've gone on to collect more technical books about each of the subjects he lays out. Don't hesitate Follow his tips, learn more and change the world one dog at a time. Don't forget to loan it out when you are done.
