German Darkwave at its finest,
By A Customer
This review is from: Anti' Christ (Audio CD)
This was the first album I picked up by this artist. At first listen there was only 1 track that I really liked (Engel) but the more I listened to it the more I liked it. Favorite songs include: "Engel" "Keimzeit" "Das Dunkle Land" and "Sodom und Gomorra". Bruno Kramm adds backing vocals on "Das Dunkle Land",which is very nicely done, the combination of Stefan's whispery/growly vocals and Bruno's singing make this song killer. I just wish they would do more tracks like this one. This is a good album to start out with if you are just getting into this band. Afterwards I recommend you go for their earlier work "Egodram" or "Staub". If you dig Bruno's singing I highly recommend getting his sideproject "Kramm".

Being a long time fan of Das Ich, but not having sampled their latest work yet, I picked up a copy of this album at one of their concerts. Das Ich has evolved over the years from their original simple industrial noise into something much better. Not only has this album quickly displaced my old favorite album, Re-laborat, it's also caused Vater to quickly become one of my personal favorite songs. While the lyrics at first might feel a bit trite, after a few listens you find yourself singing along. There's always something oddly appealing in over-the-top gothic industrial lyrics, and the ones on this album are endlessly satisfying.

I have to admit that I was a bit late to hear these guys. This is apparently their 13th album and the first I have ever heard. It has a really distinctive blend of industrial and classical without either of the two overriding eachother. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for something that stands out from the rest in the industrial genre!

I recently bought the Anti'Christ german import (which i dont know if the US version has this or not but it comes with a nifty music video for ReAnimat!). But anyway, I liked this disc overall and really the only reason i wouldnt give it 5 stars is because i know from previous CDs that they have much more potential than was put into this album. Im not sure if they were trying a new approach or what but if you compare Anti'Christ to for instance, Re_Laborat, Anti'Christ is by far the inferior disc. Overall, if your already a fan of Das Ich and dont cling to much to what they have put out in the past, its worth getting. If your new to the band, start elsewhere.

I really like this album. The lyrics are completely in german, the music is ebm/terror industrial, and the vocals are angry but clear and easy to hear. The song "sodon und gommorrah" is my personal favorite track. I think this is a much better album than some of Das Ich's prior work.

One of the best Das Ich albums, Cabaret is just a little better in my opinion...nonetheless a great album for fans of german lyrics and goth/Industrial.

I disagree with the reviewer Ixodic. This album blows satans clothes off. It's very majestic and orchestraic and is worthy of cult status. Get this album if you like Wumpscut and Rammstein. The best songs are Keimzeit and Das Dunkle Land.

Egodram part 2,

A thing I liked about Das Ich is that they managed to evolve their music concept while maintaining at the same time a very distinctive style.Unfortunately, at least for me, this has stopped being true with the new album. I must admit that since I knew the title of the album, I guesses something was going to be wrong. It seemed to me such a trite title. And now that I have listened to the music I see my fears come true. It's not that is a bad album, don't misunderstand me. I suppose if you like 'Egodram' you'll love this one. But that's the thing: it sounds almost identical to Egodram. I liked Egodram because it meant a new style added to the highly personal music das Ich had done, more upbeat and danceable. But 'Antichrist' doesn't add anything new to this band. It's just a decent sequel to Egodram. |
