Perfect for those that despise Valentine's Day (like me)
This book is the perfect answer to the age old question "Why do you hate Valentine's Day?" The sarcasm and humor with which this is written is a welcome change from all the self-help, love is all you need sap that is out there. For everyone that enjoys this book, I would also recommend the "Self-Destruction Handbook" for another good laugh and an answer to all the...

The humor's a little bitter for my tastes
I should say that I'm glad to see more and more books, articles, and websites exploring the downside of Valentine's Day. After all, how is a single to cope during a couples' holiday? The humor's a little bitter for my tastes, February 14, 2006
This review is from: The Anti-Valentine's Handbook (Paperback)
I should say that I'm glad to see more and more books, articles, and websites exploring the downside of Valentine's Day. After all, how is a single to cope during a couples' holiday? However, unlike Bennett Madison's "I Hate Valentine's Day", which is chock-full of practical tips and attitude checks, "The Anti-Valentine's Handbook" offers little more than attitude. It's a relentless pile-on of bitter "Why-don't-I-just-kill-myself" and "Everything-sucks" jokes. It's MAD Magazine without the illustrations nor the depth of insight. The book is geared more for teens than adults: teens for whom complaining is enough.
I mildly recommend this book for its contribution to recognizing the curse of the single class, and for being funny at least some of the time. Although "The Anti-Valentine's Handbook" would rather curse the darkness than light a candle, perhaps for some people, cursing the darkness is the beginning of light.
