Editorial Reviews

Product Description

A lot of bands have failed in the tricky undertaking to combine melancholy and heaviness, but not Lacrimas Profundere, who pulls it off on Antiadore without breaking a sweat. The band stayed true to their sombre roots on this album, but has elevated the characteristic sound to new heights. Ballads like "Still In Need" or "Head Held High" meet heavy breakers like "Abandon" or the punding "What I´m Not." Goth Rock enthusiasts will fall in love with Antiadore!

I became a fan of LP after Ave End was released, 2004-2005. Being from the United States, they were unknown to me at that time. I loved what i had discovered, so I went back and bought a few earlier albums. I never really connected with any albums before Burning: A Wish (2001), so this review will compare the new album against all other releases from that point on.

When original vocalist Christopher Schmid left the band after Filthy Notes For Frozen Hearts (2006), i wasn't sure they would ever be the same. His deep baritone was just the absolute epitome of how dark rock vocals should sound, and i highly recommend you check out his work with the band, because i still listen to those albums almost daily. LP chose as his replacement Rob Vittacca, and with him they recorded Songs For The Last View (2008) and The Grandiose Nowhere (2010).

While those were solid releases in their own right, you could kind get the sense that Rob was trying to find his place within the group, With the band making the difficult transition to a new vocalist, which is almost impossible for most bands to recover from. I thought they might split up, just for the simple fact that i didn't believe anyone could duplicate the sound and feeling of Christopher's presence. However, "Anitadore" is on another level. Rob seems to have finally established himself as more than just a replacement for Christopher. He vocally grabs hold of each song and makes it conform to the emotions that pour from his soul. He's not the "new" singer anymore. This is his band.

Listening to the songwriting, anyone familiar with LP will easily be able to tell that musically they took some chances and experimented with different song structures and arrangements, and it totally pays off.

I THOUGHT THE WELL WOULD BE RUNNING DRY FOR LACRIMAS BY NOW, BUT THIS IS THEIR BEST SINCE "FILTHY NOTES". 5 GREAT TRACKS: #2, #3, #8, #11, #13. LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE SOUNDS LIKE ENTWINE BUT SLIGHTLY MORE GOTH.LOVE THE SYNTHESIZERS. CAN'T FIND ANOTHER BAND THAT COMPARES TO THEM- MAYBE CHARON. I HOPE IF THEY TOUR THE U.S. THEY WON'T LEAVE THE KEYBOARDIST @ HOME LIKE 69 EYES DOES.

Finland darkwave/goth at it's best. I was a bit disappointed by the new HIM and have been a big fan of the Finland band Entwine, so when I heard the samples of Antiadore it was a quick buy so I could listen to it all. Every song is worth being on the album. Most albums I can live without 1-3 songs, but I listen to all songs each time I fire up my Amazon cloud player from this album.

The lyrics are somewhat predictable, however the execution is definitely appreciated. The vocalist has obviously been through some training, and this shows. Stays true to the band's mood and tone. If you are a fan, I would recommend this album.
