In this book, the author gives a very insightful and thought provoking analysis of the world around us, picking out signs of the times in light of Biblical prophecy. He has a fine balance of both systematic scriptural examinations, coupled with a comprehensive overview of world events, past and current. The main thread of the book is an examination of current trends in the world, and viewing them in the light of scriptural prophecies. He focuses mainly on the coming world kingdom under the Anti-Christ which is to come. He declares that indeed a world war is imminent, and that the end is indeed close. He views the current situation in the world as one which very closely matched the description which the Bible gives of the last days. The tone of the book is thus urgent, with the author strongly convicted that he has an important message to impart, and that there is little time to lose!

The title however, says little about the contents of the book. Although rich in content, and strongly informative and edifying, the author did not fully keep his focus on the objective of the book which he introduced in his first chapter. In his introduction, he mentioned that "My purpose is to examine those clues and shed light on the identity of this shadowy figure who is destined to control the world through the social, political, and religious structures of the last days...My goal is to explain, define, and refine the prophetic materials about the Antichrist.." (pg 8). Also, as the title of the book suggests, it sounded as if the focus and objective of the book would be a discussion of the persona, character and identity of the Anti-Christ.

However, after spending just the first chapter on the biblical identity and characteristics of the Antichrist, and a short survey of historical predictions of who it might be, he spends the rest of the book discussing other topics only vaguely related to that which he promised to cover in the introduction. Instead, he focuses more on proofs of the signs of the time, analyzing the world situation and downward trends that all point towards the imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Despite that, I personally found this book an informative and interesting read. The author covered a broad range of topics, and managed to integrate them together to show the signs of the times. The items discussed are indeed relevant to us in our current age and time. Therefore I would recommend this book to people of all ages and backgrounds, for it is indeed important that we as Christians are aware of the world around us, and be careful to take heed of the dangers that may beset us. However, I would add a note of caution that this author is not as fundamental and conservative as I would like, and therefore some of his views would be more towards the mainstream evangelical stance.

i wouldn't pass this on. read, 'the late great planet earth' by hal lindsey instead. it's much better. this outline's weak.
