5.0 out of 5 stars This video is living proof of what a musical genius Adam is!, May 8, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Antics in the Forbidden Zone [VHS] (VHS Tape)
As anyone who has ever seen Adam perform live will agree, he was like no other performer. This man was a musical genius. As Michael Gerard Hood would certainly agree, I'm sure, the man had a great sense of humor and wit and imagination that is played out in all of his videos. From a knight in shining armor to Clint Eastwood, he plays a host of characters. This video anthology contains every video he ever made, from the "Kings of the Wild Frontier" album to "Prince Charming" to the trendy "Friend or Foe" album, to "Viva Le Rock". Some of the videos are very rare and have never been shown on MTV. This is the complete collection.A must have for all old Adam & the Ants fans.I wish I could find a copy of the other video he made called, "The Prince Charming Review", an awesome live show which goes through his various stages of music using elaborate sets and even a huge replica of a pirate ship. Cool stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars HIP HIP HOORAY!, March 1, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Antics in the Forbidden Zone [VHS] (VHS Tape)
A whole video tape of my beloved Adam Ant. What more could a smitten girl want?

I don't really know what else to say. Here are most of Adam Ants videos and all of you reading this need to own it. So you should buy it. If you didn't want it, you wouldn't be reading this, so just order it already.

The only better one is "Antvideo" with all of his newer videos on it. But it is pretty much impossible to get in America. So this is the next best thing.

4.0 out of 5 stars If you like Adam, you gotta buy it!, February 18, 2000

There's not much out there these days for Adam Ant fans, especially videos. Although I could do without the Alice Cooper likeness and the bull (you'll see them), Adam, as always, is very sexy and very talented. (The Bruce Lee he does is especially funny.) Antmusic, Goody Two Shoes, Desperate But Not Serious and Vive Le Rock are here; there are 13 videos in all. A great video to NordicTrack to - get worked up while you work out! Buy it before you have to bother with eBay!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good early compilation of Antmusic, March 21, 2005
This CD is great for those of us who loved Adam Ant in the early 80's. Before "Goody Two Shoes", most of his music did not make a dent on the American charts. But those of who loved European imports at the time still sought out his music. We loved his outrageous style and clothes. This CD contains a lot of those early favorites including "Antmusic", "Stand and Deliver" and "Prince Charming". Then the hits came with "Goody Two Shoes" (#12 Hot 100), "Desperate but not Serious" (#66 Hot 100), and "Strip" (#42 Hot 100). The CD also contains later songs that should have been hits including "Puss 'n Boots", "Apollo 9", and "Vive Le Rock". Why all of his songs weren't Top 10 hits in America is unbelievable. The CD stops with the "Vive Le Rock" album, so it does not include songs like "Room at the Top" or "Wonderful". It is certainly not a complete collection, but it does offer up some of his best early music.

4.0 out of 5 stars Strictly for Antlovers- visually fun, June 3, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Antics in the Forbidden Zone [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This video is strictly the music videos that made Adam Ant so much fun. Bawdy and brilliant he certainly knows how to dress-up and camp-up. I myself am a huge fan and I recommend this video to any Antlover wishing to have these rarely seen videos for their collection.

4.0 out of 5 stars good chronical of the ants, March 1, 2006

The song selection spans the Adam and the Ants period as well as the Adam Ant period. Dirk Wears White Sox is overrepresented. Adam's more recent stuff, i.e. Room At the Top, came after this compilation. It is not digitally remastered so the quality isn't the best. I've enjoyed it.

As an early fan of Adam Ant during the early MTV days and most of the eighties, it covers most of the hits from the albums "Kings of the Wild Frontier", "Prince Charming", "Friend or Foe", "Strip"and "Vive Le Rock". All in all it is a collection of his more commercial success that should satisfy most peoples curiosity for those who did not grow listening to Adam Ant. And for long time fans it should satisfy those nostagic of his early MTV days. And hopefully we will hear new material in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars An awesome trip back to high school..., March 9, 2000
By
I have been an avid Adam Ant lover since 1981. (My friends and I at the age of 16 hashed a plot to runaway to London to try and meet him! What goofs we were!) Anyhow, now I am a 30-something, "dignified", mother of 2, who still hashes out secret fantasies of running away to London. It gives me a break from reality to be able to don my black leather jacket, hop into my convertible and blast Dog Eat Dog as I am screaming down the highway. His music is timeless, and this disk has all the best of the best. Adam takes you on a wild ride from raw sexuality (Whip in my Valaise) to the plight of the american indians (Killer in the Home) to a highway man who could rob me anyday! (Stand and Deliver). This disk is not to be missed. If you are not familiar with Adam's work, this is the perfect sampler of music from many albums and many stages in his musical career.

5.0 out of 5 stars So I'm an old man reliving my later teenage years, July 8, 2003
This review is from: Antics in the Forbidden Zone [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Watching Adam Ant isn't something I imagined I'd be doing at the age of 39. But when I was eighteen and watching him on music shows I never thought I'd be this old. Who does? Now, I certainly don't FEEL old, and still love the same sort of things I've loved for over two decades. Good fun music is one of these things. Adam's had hard times lately, but you have to admit when you watch this video that his natural charisma and talent are powerful. tHIS IS FUN, FUN, FUN.

4.0 out of 5 stars A cross between Oingo Boingo and John Lydon, July 10, 2004
By
Does Adam Ant remind anybody else here of a cross between the manic carnival-feel of Oingo Boingo, and the manic flamboyance of John Lydon from Public Image Limited? Maybe it's just me. That aside, Antics is a great album that mixes New Wave with the low-fi sound of Punk. With a whopping 21 songs, there are just a few clunkers (I always hated "Goody Two Shoes" and the embarrassing "Ant Rap" that has some snooty french thrown in).

My favorites:
"Stand & Deliver"
"Desperate But Not Serious"
"Kings of the Wild Frontier"
"Zerox"
