Book Description

May 22, 2006
Sustainable competitive advantage in today’s global marketplace can be difficult to acquire, especially if your company is burdened by the old scientific management model. The Antidote introduces a revolutionary alternative to the outdated command-and-control structure that restricts so many companies. It’s called the transformational management system, and it involves everyone in the company squeezing out waste and creating value for your customers. With its roots in Toyota’s lean culture, the transformational management system helps enterprises of all sizes and shapes align work with strategies, discover the voice of the customer, develop game-changing products and services rapidly, and become innovative solutions providers. Anand Sharma and Gary Hourselt offer powerful techniques you can use to control costs and spur continuous growth, and they show you how to apply them through the examples of companies that have undergone sea-change behavior to reach market leadership. A passionate call to action, The Antidote describes the path business leaders can take today to meet increasingly complex business challenges and transform their organizations to create promising futures for themselves and their employees.

5.0 out of 5 stars Invaluable direction for serious change agents, June 5, 2006
This review is from: The Antidote "How to Transform Your Business for the Extreme Challenges of the 21st Century" (Hardcover)
The Antidote is surprising an easy read in that it briefly describes both the history and rationale for lean and the need for continuous improvement in an ever demanding, global environment. Make no mistake, this is a text regarding not only the "how to" but also provides very detailed implementation strategies for growing any business, generating significant profit gains and enlisting and involving all that work within an organization.

Establishing organizational excellence for some is the end goal but Sharma and Hourselt aptly describe how to "leverage" opportunities and align customer expectations in establishing an innovative and responsive culture which will embrace, sustain and challenge those obstacles along the road to world class.
