I worried about purchasing this lamp as I had seen some lamps of another brand in stores that looked cheap and flimsy. This lamp's base is heavily weighted and the brass has a beautiful finish. The light swivels out of the way incase it is too bright when not reading or crafting. I use it for knitting and reading. I am really pleased with this lamp. This is another case where it pays to spend a little more.

This is an outstanding lamp for crafters as well as readers. Very easy to assemble, the components are high quality, with an antique brass finish. The round base is heavy and quite stable. The adjustable height and angle of the lamp makes it convenient for many uses, whether sitting in a chair or working at a table. The ability to rotate the lamp 'head' out of the way when not in use is beneficial. The bulb is a true white light and will not alter the color of craft materials or other objects. The interior of the bulb cover is a shiny chrome-like metal, enhancing the effectiveness of the bulb. My only concern is the potential for damage to the eyes, not only to people but to pets as well, by looking directly at the lit bulb. Overall, I am completely satisfied not only with its features and quality, the reasonable price makes this lamp a tremendous bargain.

I bought my floor lamp 3 years ago from QVC. The brite bulb does help with reading, sewing, etc.
But now I need a replacement bulb and the lamp is no longer carried by QVC. Ace Hardware sells same lamp but not the bulbs.
Does anyone know of a substitute bulb that will not harm the lamp or overheat causing a fire?
