Unfortunately, the shades on the two lamps that we ordered were darker than illustrated. As the alabaster is quite thick, it provided very little light, even with a 100W bulb. In addition, one of the two lamps was assembled incorrectly, so that we couldn't put it together without re-wiring the lamp.

On the bright side, the pole and base were quite nice, with a very heavy brass base so that I think it would have been difficult for children to tip over.

I purchased one lamp and liked it so much, I ordered another to go on either side of our rec room sofa. It was easy to screw the pieces together and assemble the glass lamp shade, no tools required. The alabastor shade is more amber colored instead of cream as the color name would suggest, but the brown "veining" through the glass makes it look much more expensive than it was. Worth the money for a tasteful, economical light source.

I love this lamp!It has everything i was looking for, simple to put together and looks like similar ones I searched for that were much more expensive.A terrific value.Classic!

This lamp was the right amount of light that I wanted to add to my living room. I liked it so much I bought two of them. I don't like really bright lighting so this was perfect for a warm look.
