This review is from: Antique Knife Rests : The History, Manufacture & Use of English, American & Continental Knife Rests in Metal, Glass & Ceramic (Hardcover)
Rockwell has written the most complete history of knife rests that exists today. Great illustrations throughout. He covers every aspect of knife rests, from historical and cultural perspectives to the materials used and names of manufacturers. He has done extensive research and shares it in this thorough volume about knife rests.

The beauty of this book is that Rockwell covers a lot of history of all cutlery, not just the knife and knife rest. He has individual chapters called The Knife, The Fork, and The Spoon in which he talks about the history of all three of these pieces of cutlery. He also has a chapter on Social Customs and two chapters on marks. If you are looking for a book on knife rest, I counted over 94 pictures just of knife rest. If you also want to understand the history and evolution of these antiques, look no further than Rockwell's fascinating book.
