    Real metal/iron, good heavy feel.

One cuff wouldn't open so they obviously weren't even tested when manufactured.

One shackle was nice and tight, but the other was kind of loose.

Quality product. Excellent price. Real iron- not plastic. And it works. Just don't loose the key, or you're screwed....!

These are great shackles, all of these cast iron items in this vein seem to come from the same manufacture..
However, these are not accurate for the golden Age of Piracy (1690-1730) the adjustable feature did not come about till much later.
Great product, but is you are going for historical accuracy, look for the non adjustable version..

Not bad for adult use, but children should not have access to these. the locking and unlocking mechanism is old school. AND these are pretty hardy. I thought I was going to have to take a trip to fire station to have them cut off my 8 year old. Anyway, solid but become very familiar with locking and unlocking mechanism before you put them on for real

Poorly made. Do not work. Look good as a wall hanger though. Just glad I did not get the leg irons also.

I purchased these along with IR80117 Leg Shackles for an upcoming pirate themed photo shoot.

They arrived quickly, well packed, and in an ordinary box, for people who want them for other purposes and don't have a pirate chest and plastic coins and gems. They look very authentic, very cool. While the leg shackles require the key to both open and close, these ones only require the key to open, and close just like police handcuffs.

Like any good prop person I made certain they could be opened and closed before putting them on a person. They stick a little, which was a little disconcerting. I couldn't just turn the key and have them release easily, I had to fiddle with them to get them to open. the trick is, rather then grabbing the loop on the incise of the lock, to press the portion on the tip on the outside of the lock in the direction of the piece you are pressing. Definitely practice with these before putting them on a person.

On last thing. they do have a black residue on them that you would expect on cast iron. Since I'm going directly from handling them to picking up an expensive camera, I will be wearing gloves to do it. It's definitely not a good idea to lock a model in these then walk away to wash your hands.

One cuff wouldn't open so they obviously weren't even tested when manufactured. If you just want to display them, they are fine.

This item is very cool. It has the look and weight of the real thing. The only flaw that I found was that it's black coating tends to flake off, but that just adds to the character of the cuffs...
