Can't wait to see the next edition,

This review is from: Antiques of the Future (Hardcover)
I don't even know where to begin to express the enjoyment I received from reading this book. I was engaged from page one and read the entire book in one sitting. Not only is it a great conversation piece on my coffee table but I am now looking forward to receiving more enjoyment as I give it to friends for the holidays along with items that will one day be "Antiques of the Future". Ms. Roberts has done an exceptional job with not only the writing, which is informative and humorous, but also the visual impact of the entire book. The unique photographic and creative approach parallels the achievements of the designers found within.

Not just for the coffee table!!,
This review is from: Antiques of the Future (Hardcover)
This book is informative, stimulating, and so well-designed that it undoubtedly will become a collectible "Antique of the Future" itself...It uses clever settings for photos of household products that are, or will become, design icons, along with a brief description of the item, its designer, and the inspiration for the design. I hope to have the pleasure of meeting Ms. Roberts some day.

This is the perfect gift for someone who appreciates great design in everyday objects. Who would have thought these items would become collectable! Lisa Roberts obviously recognized something special before any of us did and I surely hope there is a second book in the works. I have really enjoyed sharing my Antiques of the Future with friends and family.

Love it,

This book was a great addition to my library. I was surprised to see some of the objects that I own and love might be worth something someday, and to find out why. I have a few other "conversation piece" books on products, but most of them only talk about one type of design (like chairs) or are organized historically. I like that this book has a great variety of objects. The only bad thing is that now I want to own everything in the book!

This book in a class of its own. Each page is filled with wonderful photography and intriguing facts about products you may or may not know. It will have you collecting before you know it, and wondering why you didn't come up with the idea yourself. It makes a great gift and is sure to start a conversation. I give it my highest recommendation!

This book has very little information. I expected more products to be reviewed.

I gave this book to my Mother as a gift and, when I visit her, I always look for the book to review. For those who appreciate design and todays foremost product designers it is a great book. It makes one want to seek out these collectibles (especially if you can afford some of them!). I gave it 4 stars because I wish the book had more entries in it.I, like you, read the reviews before I buy. Go ahead, it's a fun book you'll be glad you have on hand to refer back to.

An arresting conception and collection forces you to look at everyday objects in a new way. I cannot wait for vol. 2.

"THE Holiday Gift for 2006",
By
This review is from: Antiques of the Future (Hardcover)
Let me start by saying that I am in no way, shape or form a connoisseur of antiques. I'd also describe myself as a Design Luddite. The genius of ANTIQUES OF THE FUTURE (and I DO mean GENIUS) is its accessibility. I love Ms. Roberts' forward-looking selections and the truly inspired, fun approach she has taken to her subject. Thanks to the pricing-- remarkably reasonable for a snazzy-looking item that will very likely be displayed on countless coffee tables & credenzas during this holiday season-- I have already purchased a dozen books to be used as gifts...and I may need more. Bravo Ms. Roberts!

Gotta Get It,

For anyone who loves to collect, this book is a must-have. Not that you'll need the tips that the author includes for the novice, but this gem of a book is a collectible in its own right, presented in a hard plastic sleeve. Filled with whimsical photos of dozens of designs by today's most noted designers and architects, "Antiques of the Future" is irresistible and informative. As a student of contemporary material culture and the things that surround us, I got a huge kick viewing some of the best design of our time in this format. Makes a great gift for the person who has almost everything.
