This review is from: Anton Corbijn: U2 & I: The Photographs 1982 - 2004 (Hardcover)
Gorgeous book, very good quality and TONS of beautiful photos that trace the band's creative relationship with Corbjin. The large size helps the reader lose themselves in the images and the stories behind them. You will emerge feeling as if you have just been on tour or vacation with U2.

Best U2 Book EVER!,
By
This review is from: Anton Corbijn: U2 & I: The Photographs 1982 - 2004 (Hardcover)
379 photographs in colour and duotone by Corbijn!
BELIEVE ME - This book is so wonderful - every photo is a landmark! There are no words to describe it! You just have to see it! The texts are from Anton Corbijn himself but also from Helena Christensen, President Bill Clinton, William Gibson, Paul Morley, Salman Rushdie, Michael Stipe (from REM) and Wim Wenders! I have my copy now and I must admit that this book is completely amazing - probably one of the best books about a rock band! And that is not saying little! Make yourself a favor - BUY IT NOW!!!!

"Rock And Roll Stops The Traffic!",
By
This review is from: Anton Corbijn: U2 & I: The Photographs 1982 - 2004 (Hardcover)
There is an Anton Corbijn photograph I fell in love with years and years ago: U2 - circa The Joshua Tree - in stark black and white are standing in front of an old dilapidated garage door that has been covered with a huge painting of an american flag and a woman holding an infant above her head, mouth agape. One isn't quite sure if the woman is about to devour the child or sing it a lullaby.
It's a gorgeous piece and I was truly amazed and thrilled to find it within the pages of this massive tome. From new fangled baby band (playing any & every little hole in the wall that was willing to book them), to full fledged arena & stadium filling ROCK STARS, U2 is a band that has stretched themselves and their soulful soundscapes across two decades, going on three! Anton Corbijn, master phototographer and friend to the band that he is, was there to capture it all: a snowy Sweedish video shoot for "New Year's Day"; traipsing through a deserted goldmining town in Bodie, California, in search of good shots for The Joshua Tree; hanging out on the roof of The Million Dollar Hotel in Los Angeles (which would later become the film of the same name and location); Adam, Larry, Edge and Bono looking lovely in evening gowns (yes, as in dresses; for the video shoot of "One" in Berlin); Bono armwrestling Nelson Mandella (and loosing!); and a wonderful series of photos of "the sons and the fathers" where each band memeber's dad was photographed with his son and his respective instrument. Anton's handwritten commentary is full of personal thoughts, anecdotes and fascinating background that makes for hours of leisurely page-turning, reading and enjoyment. If you are a U2 fan, an Anton Corbijn fan, a fan of rock history, or a fan of great photography: this book was made for you. And if, as Bono once said, "Rock and roll stops the traffic!", then this big beautiful book of Rock & Roll's finest, will simply stop your heart...

I just got my copy of U2& I....WOW!,
This review is from: Anton Corbijn: U2 & I: The Photographs 1982 - 2004 (Hardcover)
I have been a long time fan of U2 for a long time and I love this book, but I don't think you have to be a U2 fan to love it. This is one of those books that make people speechless when they first see it. The images and writings are visually as well as emotionally stunning. This book really took back through the history of U2 and brought up may happy memories of my own from my wild and free concert going album buying days of my youth. I not usually so gushing in my praise but get your hands on a copy and I think you will agree!

Anton Corbijn is phenomenal! If you're a fan of U2 photography then you must get this book. I couldn't put it down. I've seen many pictures of U2, but Anton's collection brings out the best. The book contains a lot of alternate pictures of the band that were not released commercially. It's amazing how he has shaped the look of the band through the years. Enjoy!

This review is from: Anton Corbijn: U2 & I: The Photographs 1982 - 2004 (Hardcover)
I received this book a week ago and I cannot put it down. Anton Corbijn has photographed U2 from the early 80's until 2004. The book is a photographic journey into the ultimate band. If you are a photographer or a fan of photography as well as a fan of U2 then this book is worth the money and a book for you!

No words can describe the beauty, quality and detailed work of this book; you can really tell the dedication Anton Corbijn put into it, as well as his loyalty to the band through all these years. It's not only a masterpiece describing through pictures and notes the history of the greatest rock band in the world, but also a must have for any major U2 fan. It's personalized album type format makes it a wonderful experience both to read and look, and the quality and art work of all the pictures is out of this world; it's almost like you grow closer to the band! I loved it and can't get enough of it!! It's worth every cent. Really!!

This is a beautifully put together book that is well worth the money (especially if you buy it here via Amazon as it is at least $35 cheaper than at the book stores I've seen). The quality of the photos, many of them in large size & the quality of the materials of the book itself it great too. It is truly an amazing body of work by Anton Corbijn. I just bought a copy of it & I really enjoyed flipping through it & looking at all of the photos & reading some of the excepts written by Anton & others. I haven't read it cover to cover, but this is a must have for any U2 fan or a photography fan. There are even several photos taken by the members of U2 as well which is fun to see. Some of the shots are really posed & there are many that are very candid. It like a photo album that the band could have put together themselves (if they were amazing photographers). I have been wanting to get this book for a year now, but put it off because of the expense. I feel silly now that I waited so long as this book is well worth the mone.

Rock photography at its best!,

This review is from: Anton Corbijn: U2 & I: The Photographs 1982 - 2004 (Hardcover)
This is not your ordinary U2 photographs. There are very few official photos, the bulk of this large book contains outtakes from each album done by the author (whom I had trouble reading his handwriting) Anton Corbijn starting with WAR up until their ATOMIC BOMB sessions. Also features photographs from the New Year's Day and Two Hearts Beat As One videos and their concerts for the Rattle And Hum and Elevation tours. Wonderful pages filled with high quality papers and a hard bound cover that would stand the test of time! Rock photography at its best!
