4.0 out of 5 stars Not too bad for a beginner, April 15, 2006
This review is from: Antonio Bocelli - Roma 4/4 Violin Outfit, with Thomastik Dominant Strings
I re-started taking violin lessons about 1 1/2 years ago, playing a rental. I discontinued my lessons for personal reasons and returned the instrument shortly later. A while back I decided to try again, but this time forego the lessons for a while. I say this violin, with lesson book and cd&dvd. and decided to buy it. I received my instrument a few days ago. First, I must say, that I used the expedited delivery and received it within the promised 3 days. It was well packaged and received no damage. Now for the instrument itself. Its sound is a little on the thin side, to be expected in an inexpensive instrument, but good enough to learn on. Right now, its not staying in tune very long, due to the tuning pegs loosening during shipping. Every day it is getting easier to tune, though, so the strings should stay in tune soon. I is loaded with accessories. Beginner's book, cd and dvd; pitch pipe, 2 blocks of rosin, polish and cloth. All-in-all it's a fair instrument and I will recommend it to a beginner. It's good for the first year or so. After which, you'll want to graduate to a better instrument, especially if you paln to play it for more that your pets, spouse and the man-in-the-moon.
