Well,I don't like to give one star for a guitar book,but the arrangements in this case are too simple,not professional.Maybe were made for children.Take a look at Carlos Barbosa Lima arrangements and try to listen to his cds and decide.All the best from Rio de Janeiro,Brazil.

Not good for classic guitar. (oh..my money..)

I'm not sure but.......maybe good for jazz guitar.

There are so many chord. Not bossanova. Just Chords.

I Do love those songs of Jobim, but this book..is kind of sh.t.

I've bought 'Brazilian Jazz Guitar' also, that is better for classic guitar solo than 'Antonio Carlos Jobim For Solo Guitar'.

I've had this book for over ten years so I've had plenty of time to play through it and get acquainted with it. The problem with this, and many other books of its kind, is that although they are Jobim melodies they fall short when it comes to harmonies and especially the rhythm part. Bossa Nova is all about rhythm, and that's what you won't find here. This book is written for Jazz guitarists, it's written in the chord melody style that makes emphasis on the harmonies while keeping the melody mostly intact, I say mostly because sometimes it's purposely modified. But, these are not exactly Jobim's or Bossa Nova harmonies they are more like "let's try to squeeze a fancy six string jazz chord substitution whenever we can" so like another reviewer said, sometimes you'll feel like you need 6 fingers for your left hand. Not classical guitar friendly at all. Like I said, every time you see chord melody, think gorgeous harmonic substitution and there goes the rhythm! or rather the lack of it. This happens unfortunately many times a non brazilian tries to write a book like this, they just can't get it, they don't get the style. These arrangements may actually sound nice if you have a bass player and drums to accompany you, otherwise stay away from this book.

en mi opinion creo que el senor sokolow merece un agradecimiento muy especial por ponernos a la mano unas canciones tan dificiles de transcrivbir e interpretar como es la musica quien yo considero el compositor latino mas grande de todos los tiempos tom jobim para mi este libro representa muchos dias de practica i es aparte una gran ensenansa para todos los que quieran ver que en america latina tambien se hacen cosas hermosas solo espero que el senor sokolow saque una segunda parte de este hermoso libro gracias sr jobim por ese legado de valor incalculable y mil gracias al sr sokolow por ponerlo en mis manos RAZIEL DE LUGO UN MUSICO MAS
