The worst game yet for the Wii, avoid,

Anubis II has a budget price for a reason. This is above all the worst game to see the light of day for the Wii yet, thanks to it's unresponsive controls, ugly visuals, boring gameplay, and a grating soundtrack all combine to help Anubis II claim the aforementioned title. You play as the savior of ancient Egypt, or something, in what would otherwise be called a platformer. As anyone who has played a video game in their life will know, jumping is key to any platformer, which Anubis II attempts to use with the Wii-mote and nunchuk, and this is where the game fails the most. Raising up the nunchuk barely works (and in some cases, it just doesn't), while the tedious combat illustrates the game's broken controls and boring gameplay all the more thanks to just plain bad movement. As far as the game's graphics go, the Wii is far from a technical powerhouse, but Anubis II looks like it was emulated from a first generation PS1 platformer. In case you haven't gotten the idea yet, Anubis II is by far and large the worst game to hit the Wii yet, and should be avoided at all costs.

This is absolute garbage. Unable to even play the game and control the character. The developers should be ashamed to have released this.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

Despite the fact we own about 18 Wii titles and 90 Gamecube game titles, this game is the only one that will not play on 480p mode on our HDTV. All the other games work, this one you get a scrambled HD signal.
We contacted the developer and the game and never received a response. If I were a retailer I would steer clear of selling products from this game developer!

PASS ON THIS GAME,

This game was on sale ($9.99) and looked very interesting. My sons love all things Egyptian especially mummies, scorpions and anything else with a high creep factor. After looking it over, I thought this game would be a steal.
After playing the game a couple of times, it was easy to figure out why it was so cheap. The controls are horrible! It was frustrating for all of us to maneuver Anubis around. As for the actual game - it got tired quick. Save your money and pass on this game. The concept is cool but the game is not. Although, my youngest did laugh himself silly as we made Anubis unintentionally fly around. It was not as much fun for the rest of us.

Second worst game on the Wii...,

Of the Wii games I've played to date, Anubis II is locked in as the 2nd-worst game on the platform (to date). The only reason it isn't the worst is due to another Conspiracy Entertainment-published (and Data Design-developed) nightmare titled Ninjabread Man, truly one of the worst games ever published on any platform (which incidentally is nearly a carbon copy of this game, same engine, same music, same godawful controls, you get the picture). How this game was ever given the go-ahead is beyond me. The visuals are dismal, the music and sound effects are poor and mind-gratingly repetitive and the controls, if you want to call them that, surpass being merely unresponsive rendering the game largely unplayable. Like Ninjabread Man, there are no production values to see here. Menus are plain, there's no attempt to flesh out any storyline outside of the manual and the music has to be what's playing in the elevators of hell.I can't stress this enough: AVOID ANUBIS II LIKE THE PLAGUE! Avoid ANYTHING developed by Data Design and take a good long look before you buy anything published by Conspiracy Entertainment. Publishing "games" like this is what made the market crash in 1984 and it's currently hurting the Wii software library as shovelware is a dime a dozen. I really wish Nintendo would bring back the old Seal of Approval and take a look at the games being released before allowing them to be published. There's no way Anubis II or its ilk would ever see the light of day if Nintendo would exercise a bit of quality control like they used to. What I'd really like to know is how games like this get a pass, but others like Xenoblade/Monado are overlooked for Stateside release.

Aged, and harmed by poor motion controls,

Anubis The Second is widely thought of as one of the worst games on the Wii. It's difficult to argue with that. The game was originally released on the Playstation 2 in Europe, then later ported to the Wii. There are many factors working against the game:Graphics: The graphics look incredibly aged for such a modern game. It looks like a late release for the Nintendo 64, or possibly an early Gamecube release. They just are not up to par. The enemies have few animations, most just scuttling towards you or chomping mindlessly. Fitting with the Egyptian theme of the game, every stage is very yellow and brown. I understand that it fits the setting, but they could have changed things up a bit. Sound: It's average. There is nothing terrible about the music, although it doesn't really make me think of Egypt or ancient deserts at all. It doesn't fit the theme, and the tracks sound awfully generic. Controls: This truly harms the game. If it weren't for the motion controls, this game would just be another bland platformer. The motion controls don't always work. Sometimes a certain move will be performed when you're trying to do something else. Sometimes you'll attack when you're trying to swing. Jumping large gaps is difficult to control. The only thing that works okay is the orb shooting. Stage Design: Another big flaw in the game. The levels all look very similar. There isn't much in them that really keeps your attention. Some of the relics you must collect are just sitting around, while others are in very difficult to reach places. Enemies are packed in and strewn about with little thought. It just doesn't seem like the stage designers had any overall plan when they made the levels. They switch between being boring and bland to being frustrating and confusing. Overall: The game is kind of cute and it does have an ancient Egyptian theme, which I am personally fond of and may appeal to children. But the game is just too poorly designed to be worth a purchase. Poor controls, overly-similar levels, and aged graphics keep this game from being enjoyable for more than just a few minutes.
