About the Artist

Anuhea (pronounced Ah-New-Hey-Ah) is a self-taught guitarist and song-writer born on the Hawaiian island of Maui. An eco-conscious surfer as well as an outdoor enthusiast, Anuhea is not just another pretty face. She is a savvy entrepreneur who acted as her own manager, agent, producer and distributor before signing with OneHawaii Music. Anuhea's songs weave soul, R & B, jazz, and reggae with smart, personal lyricism on her self-titled debut release. She began showcasing her talents as a teen, "I was discovering my talent and passion while realizing how to deal with emotions every teenager goes through." Anuhea shares the same independent attitude of celebrated females like Gwen Stefani, Lily Allen, and India.Arie. "My main goal as a music-maker is to inspire people to find their dream, whatever it may be," she says. "I just feel lucky that I've found my dream and am able to pursue it."

This CD is truly awesome, and I mean that in every way. Sultry, soulful, smart and sassy lyrics and a smooth, island inspired sound. Anuhea is kind of like a female Jack Johnson.

From Maui, she is beautiful and her music should be described as delicious, really really delicious. I have have been playing this CD over and over and it just gets better. For me this is a top contender for best new album / best artist of 2009. In these crazy times, Anuhea's music is the answer for a complete escape to audio paradise!

There are two types of people putting out albums today, singers and artists.

Singers are those that lack the ability to write lyrics, music, can't play an instrument, or have their voice "processed" by computers. But they have an image that is marketable (good looks & some suggestive moves).

Artists are on a completely different level, they create. They may do one or two things listed above, but there are a few that can do all of them. The really amazing gift is to be able to do them all.

If you're looking for the latter, there is a breath of fresh Hawaiian air blowing in that you haven't experienced even if you've vacationed there. That is Anuhea.

With her debut album Anuhea proves that local talent doesn't have to stay out on an island were only the locals can enjoy her creations. This is clearly a multi-hit album like very few artists, (just a few come to mind, Madonna, Janet & Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, Whitney Houston, etc) can create.

I know that may seem to be a crazy comparison at this point, but if the radio program managers across this Nation are really honest and listen to this album I can't see why it won't happen.

It used to be that pop music had depth and integrity and R&B was filled with the soul music that formed its roots. Unfortunately now most of pop and R&B music is filled with pabulum about cars, jewelry, and bottle service. Anuhea's debut release brings us back to a time when pop music was about true emotion and attitude. Without the hipster burden of the indie music label or any type of neo-soul affiliation, Anuhea is just pure talent with great songs with which anyone of any age can identify whether it be through current circumstances or through the eyes of reminiscence.

About Anuhea: Like many, I discovered her through Youtube. It was like "wow, WHO IS THIS?". I had the pleasure of seeing her perform on stage a few days ago and she was absolutely terrific. So talented. The impression I got from talking with her after her show was that she is just a down to earth young person with a great attitude who is enjoying the moment. And she should. The future is bright for her.
About the album: It sounds exactly as her live performance. No overdone music or over mixing here. Just straight good pop music. It's just refreshing to hear an album like this these days.
Buy it, you will not regret it. Anuhea is da bomb!

Had this album for a few years now and its still on regular play. Her music has a little of everything with an acoustic, soulful, reggae, Hawaiian, pop-ish blend her lyrics are both whimsical and will make ya stop and think...My favs Ultimate Insult, Big Deal,Right love wrong time, Charismatic SOB and Fly but really I can play this entire album and chill. Her new album "For Love" due out Valentines 2012 unless you backed her on Kickstarter(which will have simple love song, Come over love and Crown Royal) is the bomb as well! This album is fantastic and her sophomore album def reflects her personal growth and expect another great album start to finish!!She is also fantastic live if you get the chance to see her acoustic or with a full band...anuheajams.com

I first learned of Anuhea in a news interview, and was impressed how she responded to an unfortunate incident, so I decided to purchase her CD. (I'm one who will not listen to music by artists with oversized egos or lacking in integrity and character, no matter how good the music or song may be.) I'm a fan of standards, light jazz, among others. This up and coming young lady has something special, an innocent voice with strength when needed, and packaged in great musical arrangements. Each song on this CD is delightful. If you like light jazz, this one is a must. I'm looking forward to new releases.

I found Anuhea through iTunes and after listening to a few tunes, bought the album which is absolutely wonderful. A lot of reggae influence which may feel a bit repetitive in some songs (as most reggae does) but the end result is great and she is definitely a rising star.

Album standouts (for me, at least): Fly, Big Deal, I Just Want You Around, Here I Go Again, Endlessly, No Word (and for fun, Barista by Day). So for an album with 12 tracks, having 6-7 standouts is an easy reason to get the whole thing.

Really nice to see someone who is talented and making her way on her own.

I picked up this album during a recent fund-raising project with a local NPR station. Usually this is a donation and the CD is not anything I'm interested in.

This time, I was very surprised to pop in the CD and hear her soulful voice as went through the album. I love the "Barista" tune with its blend of great tones and her voice.

A great find!
