3.0 out of 5 stars Not the"Dummies" book to start with
In hindsight, I wish that I had started with the "Anxiety for Dummies" and the "Depression for Dummies" books first. I found that in my condition of extreme anxiety and depression there was much to high school like work to be studied over. The authors probably meant it to be set up this way, on ways to deal with your mental conditions after you understand them. So I blame...

This book is amazing! I would recommend this book to anyone. It is very inclusive and really makes you look at all aspect of your anxiety and depression and their root cause. By analyzing your feelings, thoughts, and history you start a self-awareness process that allows for recovery.

I have personally dealt with anxiety my entire life- 23 years. In that time I have concentrated on "fixing" it for the last 8. I have seen counselors, medications, psychiatrist, and read many self help books. This book is the first that actually has helped considerably. I can not stress enough that it really makes you take a look at yourself, which is where the healing lies. If you are unwilling, or unable to take a hard look at the truth, and get real with yourself- nothing is going to work for you!

I contacted the authors- and they returned my e-mail same day! You don't see that very often, these people know what they are doing, and exactly how to do it! Thank you.

So I blame myself for jumping straight into the "Workbook" phase which I found to be quite tedious under my current condition.
Sincerely, Terence Neill.

This is a practical step-by-step workbook with checklists and exercises to help identify the root of the problem, gain new understanding of it, review possible courses of action, and develop a wide range of coping skills and positive habits. It offers a hands-on approach to manage depression and anxiety and reduce emotional distress. I highly recommend this book.

I have been reviewing books in this category for a group of friends who fit in the title classification. I found this workbook to be my favorite so far. The layout and arrangement are logical, but the book also gives the option of working on topics of special interest first. I will definitely recommend this book.

This is a great resource. I work with the mentally challenged, mainly doing "Recovery" and "Living Skills" groups, and this is a great tool and a wonderful conversation starter!
