I am a psychiatrist specializing in anxiety disorders. I find this book very impressive. It employs proven scientificaly based approaches to help kids with a wide range of anxiety symptoms. It is presented in an easy to understand, and easy to use format. The book synthesizes a wide range of therapeutic approaches in a manner that can be easily translated into immediate application by the layman. If you learn whats in this book, you will know more than most therapists about treating childhood anxiety disorders! I highly recommend this book.

Excellent Resource - No Other Book Like It,
This review is from: Anxiety-Free Kids: An Interactive Guide for Parents and Children (Paperback)
Dr Zucker's book is truly one of a kind - the idea of pairing a book for BOTH the parent and the child is excellent - the book is easy to read - puts forth workable suggestions and strategies - and enables me to integrate my child in the process of learning how to deal with every day issues stemming from anxiety - I highly recommend this book to any parent regardless of the level of anxiety your child may be experiencing!

A parent's guide to dealing with their child's anxieties and phobias,

This review is from: Anxiety-Free Kids: An Interactive Guide for Parents and Children (Paperback)
Anxiety does not have to be a constant state. "Anxiety-Free Kids: An Interactive Guide for Parents and Children" is a parent's guide to dealing with their child's anxieties and phobias, so that they can face them now before they develop into lifelong problems. Doubling as an advice guide for parents and an activity book for younger readers in dealing with their fears, "Anxiety-Free Kids" is a unique approach to childhood phobia, highly recommended.

I bought this two years ago knowing that my son was an anxious child. We had looked through it a bit together, not reading it cover to cover as recommended. However, when his anxiety recently began to escalate and interfere with his normal daily functioning, I was unexplicably glad to have Dr. Zucker's book at the ready. We've read through it together at at quicker pace than the recommended chapter-per-week, and it has helped tremendously. My ten year-old is regaining his confidence, and I feel hopeful that his anxiety will not necessarily become a burden for him into his adulthood. Thank you Dr. Zucker for this outstanding, practical, effective resource.

The Best Anxiety Book for Parents and Kids Both!,
By Judith Asner (Bethesda, MD) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Anxiety-Free Kids: An Interactive Guide for Parents and Children (Paperback)
Dr. Bonnie Zucker is one of the brightest young therapists I know. Her book reflects this fact. It is a "must have" for parents as well as for therapists treating anxiety, and the principles of CBT are useful for adults as well. This book will open communication between parent and child and fortify children as they face the challenges of growing up.
It is clearly written, encouraging, and will calm parents and assure them they are on the right track using this approach. Especially important since anxious children make anxious parents even more anxious and need a way to break the cycle.

Dr. Zucker offers a fresh, well written and practical guide for parents who have noticed anxiety in their child and wish to help through a combination of information, structured exercises and deep empathy. As a psychologist who works with many couples who have children--this is now the book I reference when such issues arise.

Superb Resource for Parents, Children and Therapists,
This review is from: Anxiety-Free Kids: An Interactive Guide for Parents and Children (Paperback)
As a psychologist who sees children with anxiety disorders, I was extremely impressed with Dr. Zucker's book. The book has practical and sensible ideas for parents. Unlike other books I've seen, it also has a unique pull-out section for children so they can better understand and master their own fears. I also found the book had new ideas for me as a therapist that I can utilize in my practice.

The book has good information for parents but the kids section is not written for kids over the age of 9. I would suggest a teen version of this book.
