If you have never made a quilt, you'll find the guidance you need in this book. Start easy with simple squares, as in Checkerboard or Trip Around the World. Progress to squares combined with rectangles in Burgoyne Surrounded. Enjoy playing with colors in Courthouse Steps. You are never too young to learn to quilt.
Bonnie is a recognized figure within the world of quilting. She has served as executive show director for the American Quilter's Society's quilt shows for more than 16 years. She studied art and design in college, and was certified as a master quilt judge in 1986. Bonnie's quiltmaking skills are exemplified by the number of awards she has won; two of her quilts, "A Little Bit of Candlewicking" and "Smitten with Flowers," are in the collection of The National Quilt Museum of the United States of America, located in Paducah, Kentucky. She also has two quilts in the Artists of Iowa Collection, Waterloo, Iowa - her quilts were the first textiles added to this prestigious collection of work by Iowa artists.
Bonnie has authored nine quilting books using updated techniques for making traditional quilts, as well as writing for the AQS OnPoint e-newsletter and editing other AQS books. She is a popular quilting instructor who teaches across the U.S., and has traveled to several countries to teach or judge - Australia, Canada, Indonesia, Japan for the Great International Quilt Festival, Switzerland, and Turkey at the invitation of the Turkish Minister of Culture. As show director and professional quilter, Bonnie works with all types of media (print, radio, and television), and has appeared as a guest on Simply Quilts (HGTV); Sew Young Sew Fun (PBS); Quilts, Secrets Hidden in Fabric (HGTV Special Presentation), American Quilter TV show, and TheQuiltShow.com, and regularly does interviews with local and national media on quilt-related topics.
