4.0 out of 5 stars The friendly skies..., February 2, 2005
This review is from: Any City (Audio CD)
"Any City" by Pilot Scott Tracy is weird, but not unlistenable. I went ahead and bought this based on how much I like the Causey Way, and "Any City" is much easier on the ears than most Causey material. Scott and Tracy's voices are much the same, but the music has really changed. There are more melodies in the keyboards and guitars and the songs seem to be more formulaic than Causey was. Depending on who you are, this is either a strenght or a weakness. The Alternative Tentacles website description of the band includes references to Man...or Astroman (probably because there is a member of Man...or Astroman in Pilot Scott Tracy) and Ladytron. I think those are fair comparisons, but I don't necessarily think that all Man... and Ladytron fans will embrace this record. It's still a creepy album, but not as creepy as Causey.

I challenge you to see Pilot Scott Tracy live and NOT have a complete and total blast. They're impossible to not fall in love with. "Any City" is a thoroughly enjoyable album.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent purchase, July 22, 2006

Like others said, PST is both melodic and aggressive. It makes for a nice contrast and they pull it off best in the songs Time Has Come, Return to My Home, and Master Jack. Definitely a good purchase. For a few songs, like Human Earthquake, Right On, and particularly Babies and Dust, they are repetitive and I felt like these were "filler." I hope their next work is more consistent concerning the contrasts within each song.
