4.0 out of 5 stars Our favorite sexy gamers are back! April 30, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Killing me. That’s what you’re doing, Mrs. Brenna Aubrey. You’re killing me with this couple.

This couple that doesn’t know what is best for the other. The couple that doesn’t know how to have a multiple sided conversation. These 2 people that are holding all these internal thoughts that are begging to be spoken, but instead say things that mess everything up. But at the same time, I love them. And I want them to be happy. I need everything to be okay.

But let me ya’ll why it’s not okay.

Adam is extremely selfish. He HAS to be in control or else he feels like nothing will be done perfectly. He has issues with letting Mia live her own life. He’s interested in his own personal benefit without giving thought to what she would want.

And some of it is understandable because after all, Adam is a multimillionaire with a capital company who is used to playing dirty for what he wants, but you can’t run a relationship like a business. And after he finally realizes this, it’s too late.

Mia, on the other hand, refuses to let anyone help her (other than Heath)! Damn, woman. PLEASE! Just ask for help. Confide in the people closest to you. Otherwise, all the stuff going on will eat at you a thousand times worse.

I loved reading from Adam’s perspective. Mrs. Aubrey does a male’s viewpoint very well, and I couldn’t see much resemblance in his and Mia’s.

At Any Turn has none of that money s*** hovering over their heads. It’s a real relationship, not a contracted one.

And, lord have mercy, sexy as hell. (The mirror scene. That is all).

Even though I had an idea of what was coming, what the heartbreaking reveal of hers was going to be, it still shook me to my core.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Gaming System Book 2...WOW! April 30, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
When I received an ARC for Brenna Aubrey’s “At Any Turn” I have to admit I squealed…just a little. Okay, maybe a little more than a little. I loved the first book in the series, “At Any Price” and I’ve been not so patiently waiting to read the second installment.

Then I opened the book and I looked at it. Ugh. Oh No. It can’t be true, I thought. Brenna seriously didn’t do this to me! She wrote the book in Adam’s point of view. Oh. Holy. Hotness. Batman. Then I really squealed. I loved that I got to see the events through Adam’s eyes, know his thoughts, feel his emotions. And his character had depth. Brenna did an excellent job writing Adam. I was drawn into his world immediately. And, oh that boy…he is book boyfriend material all the freakin’ way.

I did miss seeing things from Mia’s perspective at times. I think there were instances that her character could have shown a little more emotion, or feeling so the reader knew what her “verbal tone” or body language was. Sometimes I had trouble figuring it out, but in some cases I could tell that is what the author was aiming for and she nailed it. Mia is fighting some pretty big demons in “At Any Turn” and some of the decisions she makes, like any normal person, are stupid. And I wanted to bonk her upside the head. But her character was written so well. I could see the change from the first book to the second, which was a very important aspect of this story.

Brenna Aubrey’s writing was easy to read. I love her style and voice. Her characters jump off the page and pull you into their world. The book was well thought out and flowed well, pacing was good. I just love this series and I really enjoyed that Brenna took a chance and wrote from Adam’s point of view.

5.0 out of 5 stars A hard lesson in compromise.... June 9, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Mia and Adam are just getting over the honeymoon phase of their relationship when things begin to come crashing down.

Adam's gaming company has been slapped with a law suit and Mia has been accepted in to med school...on the other side of the country.

Adam suddenly realises that Mia is his world and the thought of her leaving scares the hell out of him. So Adam goes in to battle mode...which totally annoys the hell out of Mia. Both strong willed and stubborn, Mia and Adam fight it out. But to Adam's surprise Mia calls his bluff and calls a time out on their relationship.

At any turn is told through Adam's point of view. Adam is not used to not being in control. To start with he takes it as a challenge, but as the story progresses, Mia becomes more and more distant leaving Adam lost and confused.

Towards the end of the story all is revealed, but the story does not conclude and so be prepared to be left hanging a little because Ms Aubrey has book 3 in the works.

I love Adam and Mia, and I totally Love Brenna Aubrey's writing style. I cannot wait to see what is in store in Gaming the System #3!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Book April 29, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
This book picks up at the end of the hike Adam began in At any Price. The book is written from Adam’s POV. There is a very different tone between these two books and now Adam and Mia are learning to deal with being in a relationship with each other. There are a lot of struggles in this book and some of the same faults that came up in the first book re-appear. Adam is still very controlling (which can be frustrating as a reader) but Mia is still trying to do everything on her own as well. Both need to learn how to let others in and trust them. It does help to understand Adam better when you hear his thoughts. It does drag a little in the middle where you wonder what in the world is happening but all the questions raised in this book do get explained by the end. Fair warning there is a cliffhanger. I hope there isn’t too long to wait until book 3.
