Fragile connection and holder, December 25, 2005
This review is from: ANYCOM HS-790 Blue Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
This is a good price for a BlueTooth headset, compatible with my Palm Treo 650 for a wireless connection. I did pay much more at another store. Most unfortunate given the outcome.
This device is terrible. It was difficult to use (I am a computer expert.) You are required to leave it permanently on and near the phone. Otherwise, you need to repeatedly reconnect it through the discovery process. Even after doing so, I never knew when the device would ACTUALLY pick up a call. 2/3 of the time it did, sometimes it didn't, sometimes it was a long delay before picking up. Sadly, these problems may be intrinsic to BlueTooth headsets as I hear of other people struggling with other brand headsets.
But there are other major flaws. People at the other end complained about poor sound quality from the day I got it. I had to de-activate it on many occasions to continue a conversation.
Finally, the device is very fragile. I have been flying for business the past several months. In absence of a hard-shell case, I did my best to protect the unit while traveling. Still, it broke to the point of being useless within 3 months. The ear-hanger separated permanently from the unit.
I do not recommend this device to anyone unless you are willing to forgive the current difficulties of BlueTooth, live with poor sound quality and baby the device.
