5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely the best.
This headset is the best. I have tried three others before this, the Motorola, Logitech and Seimens units. None of those seemed to fit securely on my ear, they let outside noises in and had a tinney sound and a lot of static. This one has none of those problems. I use the headset with my bluetooth enabled PDA to talk to friends in Spain via SKYPE which then is a free call...

1.0 out of 5 stars HORRIBLE HEADSET - DON'T BUY
I bought this headset and discovered the exact same problem as another customer notes. After a few minutes, it turns itself off, with its battery saving feature, and it takes FOREVER to turn the worthless thing on again - plenty of time to get into an accident attempting it. I am returning it to the store immediately. Do not buy this headset.

5.0 out of 5 stars Actually does what is says...Incredible, January 5, 2006
This review is from: ANYCOM HS-890 Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
This is my third blue tooth headset and this is by far the best one I've had. I had the Jabra vt2500 and the Motorola H700. Let's just say that those items did not live up to expectations. Both were very low in volume and I had to constantly repeat myself. The people I was talking to could hear the background noise more than they can hear me. With the ANYCOM HS-890 the speaker is very loud and clear and the other person can hear me on the other end as well. This is an awesome product. Sure, this product is not as pretty as the H700 but it sure does perform. It's great that I don't constantly have to say, "say again?...Say again?" Now...one tiny little flaw with this product is that it shuts off by itself when not in use. Technically, it's still on which only requires you to just click on the power button to take it out of stand by mode to make calls and receive. If it was fully turned off you have to hold the power button for about 6 sec. I can live with that. Seriously, this product is loud and clear. Loud as in you can hear the person you're talking to without "trying" to hear them. It's awesome, no regrets so far. I'll update my review as time goes by for longevity of the product.

5.0 out of 5 stars An ideal headset for MS Voice Command users, April 10, 2006

Anyone who has a Windows Mobile device that is running Microsoft Voice Command knows that it is a great piece of software, but is very picky about the Bluetooth headsets it supports. I had previously tried and returned a Sony Ericsson HBH-610 after I found it would not run reliably in this setup. I was about to settle for the Motorola HS850 and its meager performance, until I ran across this gem.

Not only does the HS-890 work well with Voice Command, it is a great little headset in its own right. The speaker volume is plenty loud, the earpiece is comfortable, and the noise cancelling processing seems to be effective in cleaning up background noise. My only wish was that it used a more standard mini-USB connector to the headset, instead of the micro-USB it comes with, but that is a minor issue. With all this, and at a decent price too, you can't go wrong with this device.

1.0 out of 5 stars Fatal flaw, June 7, 2006

I thought I have finally found my perfect bluetooth headset. After trying several (unfortunately I've broken ear loop on otherwise excellent Logitech Mobile Freedom), I had no luck at all. Static and stuttering all I had from several models from Tekken, Cardo Systems and such. Finally after doing extensive research I've came across Anycom HS-890. It sounds pretty good, fits well and could've been the One, but has one very fatal flaw, which kills it completely. Here is how it goes: you pair it with your phone (Motorola E815 in my case), turn on both the phone and headset, it connects perfectly. Then in about 2 to 3 minutes it goes to BATTERY SAVING MODE, to say plainly it disconnects from the phone by itself. You think its just one of those "accidental" disconnects, so you connect it again, ether from the headset of phone. In about 2 to 3 minutes it does it again and again and again. Quick check on their tech support forum confirms that it is a problem with every single headset they sell (most posts in German though). There is no way to call them, so I emailed the support and they answer that it's impossible to turn off that "feature".
It defeats the purpose of a hands free device to be constantly connected without using your hands *wink wink*. It goes back to store, what a shame for otherwise pretty decent product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little thing, July 20, 2006
This review is from: ANYCOM HS-890 Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I love it. Great clear sound, even if I am in a crouded place. I have a RAZR phone and this headseat works great with it. I had a Motorola HS850 and it was hard to hear when I had a lot of people talking around me, like at the airport, where I spend lot of my time so it was a good thing that I lost it and that I had to buy a new headset. This Anycom HS-890 headset is a great purchase for the price. I'm really happy with it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Be carefull this unit will break if you are not very carefull, July 19, 2006
This review is from: ANYCOM HS-890 Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
Bought two of them a month ago. One for me, one for the wife. The unit lets you change the ear clip for left or right ear, by pulling the clip off and pushing it back on in reverse. Nice feature but the tiny part that fits in your ear and has the speaker inside snapped right off when the wife went to change to the other ear. The two year warrantee is in Europe somewhere and I think they will fight me on this, even though it is very badly designed with very small piece of plastic holding the two parts together. I would not buy this unit again even though it sounds great, and works very well. I am now waiting to see how long the other unit will last with such flimsy design. This weak link makes the ANY COME Blue HS 890 a very bad buy.

I've used two different headsets, and they've both been less than stellar. This is the first headset that has had excellent sound, fits comfortabley and easily on my ear, and works flawlessly with my phone.

4.0 out of 5 stars comfortable but only OK, January 5, 2007
This review is from: ANYCOM HS-890 Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
Honestly, I like my Anycom HS-777s better and that can be had for less than $20 these days. The sound quality is not noticeably better, though this headset is as good or slightly better than typical in this price range. It is comfortable to wear, though not as secure as headsets that put more of the bulk of the electronics between the ear and the head (like the 777 does), rather than hanging off the ear: turning one's head quickly away from the headset can leave it pointing out like an ear-flap turn indicator.

The design is sleek and unobtrusive. Build quality is high. Sound quality is reasonable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bang for the buck, July 10, 2006

This review is from: ANYCOM HS-890 Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
First off, I must disclose that I really know nothing about Bluethooth headsets in general. This is the first, and only item of its kind that I have ever tried or purchased. I purchased this one based soley on existing customer reviews.

That said, I will add my review to the list of kudos. This is a wonderful gadget! It has great clarity (for the wearer, and person on the other end), good noise cancellation, ample battery life, plenty of volume, and it is simple and intuitive to use. For example, I wanted to use a voice command while driving one afternoon. I didn't KNOW how to do it, but figured I would just give it a go and see what would happen. I pushed the button (the only button) on the headset, after a few beeps and boops, I spoke my voice command. My phone dialed the number. I thought, "wow, this thing works like one would think it should." Neat! I don't know how this unit will work with other Bluethooth phones, but with my Sony-Ericsson Z520, it is a real gem.

The only knock I would give it has to do with the fact that the bit which actually goes into your ear is a bit too large. I would love it if it were designed with an earpiece similar to the ones on the Sony MDR series "ear bud"-style headphones. But that's my only complaint.

As the title suggests, for the money, I think this item is hard to beat!
