Anybody use the Amazon Appstore with the Coby Kyros MID7015? I'm thinking about buying the Coby Kyros MID7015, but the lack of content in the AppsLib concerns me. I know you can root and use the Android Market, but I was wondering if anyone is using the Amazon Appstore on the device and if it works. If so, I may not have to go through all that. Thanks!
Rooting the Coby Kyros MID7015 is really easy and takes minutes to do if you do it right. There is a Youtube video with great instructions and links in the comments on how to do this. This is the easiest way I found to root this tablet. It gives you access to Google's Android Market, and you can run apps that normally won't run on the unrooted MID7015 (Flixster works after I root it). And you can install the graphical fix for Angry Birds.
I did not root my 7015 and I have downloaded (have also updated) and used the Amazon App Store with very few problems. It works great and there is a window which tells me whether a particular application is compatible with the Coby.
I rooted my 7015 and it worked fine although I noticed it was a bit slower responding to touch and applications. After a few months, I restored it back to the original settings and I like it better. I learned to live without the extra apps from the Android Market.
Kyros 8024 is a bit problematic for me; it installs App Store directly from Amazon (not through Google Play), but every time I turn it off, it will not start again, and I have to clear out the data (NOT cache) to get it to work again. I have to re-register my device, and I end up having the device registered (as a new device) for every time I open App Store and log in. Means I own apps, but can't play them, 'cause App Store doesn't recognize my Coby after a reboot or power off, or even just unloading App Store.
