Wireless bliss,

This review is from: Anycom BluNa Bluetooth Nano iPod Adaptor (Electronics)
Right now I am listening to my 2nd generation 8 gig ipod nano using this bluetooth adapter and a pair of motorola S805 bluetooth DJ headphones. I have a big smile on my face and no cords to weigh me down. The headphones are an excellent match and came off of my burton audex snowboarding helmet. They can be converted into regular headphones when not attached to the helmet. Now on to the review.
1. Pairing: There was no problem pairing the two devices at all. I just plugged the adapter into my ipod, pressed down the pair button on my headset, and I was good to go. 2. Audio quality: The sound is very clear. I am no audiophile but I know what low quality audio sounds like and it annoys me, so any regular person should be more than happy with what they hear from this adapter. There is no static or cutting out whatsoever when you're within range. 3. Range: I tested the line of sight range in the long hallway outside of my apartment door. I could only take about 13 normal steps before the music started to cut out, which is not super, but it will serve my purposes just fine (snowboarding with my ipod in my jacket pocket, one foot away from my head). There is no static before it cuts out, just gaps. I also tested the range in my apartment (2 bedroom, 1200 sq ft, one level). I can put my ipod in a central location like the kitchen counter and walk around anywhere in the apartment without the music cutting out (sometimes behind 2 or 3 walls). Pretty good considering the less than impressive line of sight performance. Conclusion: I applaud anycom for engineering a solid product and would recommend it to anyone interested in the freedom of wireless headphones. The bluna is a solid performer. It's small, stylish, and very easy to use. The sound is right on, and the range, although not spectacular, should be fine for most. As an added bonus, anycom has included an AC adapter that converts the standard ipod usb cord into an AC charger. One more thing, the bluna is ever so slightly off center when attached to a 2nd generation nano. I believe it was designed for the first gens but this isn't a deal breaker at all. Hope this was helpful. Enjoy! *Note: I wasn't able to specify that I wanted the black model bluna because amazon didn't offer me the choice but that's not any fault of the product itself and nothing a light coat of spray-on plastidip can't handle.

audio quality is better on other units,

This review is from: Anycom BluNa Bluetooth Nano iPod Adaptor (Electronics)
I like the fact that this unit fits so snugly on my nano - also that power switches on automatically when the ipod is turned on but...
...the audio quality is just not as good when used with my Panasonic RP-BT10 Bluetooth Headphones (White) earbud receiver. That unit features a transmitter that sounds great but does have a flimsy ipod connector and power switch that must be pushed for several seconds. It's also wider than a nano which is clumsy. But I'm returning this BluNa unit solely because of bad sound. I hear subtle but annoying crackling - particularly during spoken word material which is what I mainly listen to. Can't be sure if this exists with other bluetooth ear/headphones. Music seems to sound fine and many people will be happy with this unit - I might have been had I not had the Panasonic to compare it with. Pros: Great snug streamlined fit, convenient power on function Cons: Crackly sound on spoken word material And by the way, the fact that it includes an "AC adapter" made me think that it plugged into the BluNa unit - it doesn't. The adapter is simply an ipod charger - though it doesn't include a cord - it just has a USB jack on it. You still have to remove the BluNa to charge the ipod. So it has nothing to do with the BluNa unit. What's the point?? You probably already have an ipod charger.

This is a great product if you are interested in wireless earphones/headsets and your iPod Nano. I have a 3rd generation Nano and was tired of getting tied up in knots with my wired earphones. This is an ideal solution. I have paired it and my Nano with the Motorola S9 stereo headset as well as with the Altec Lansing BackBeat 903 headset. Both paired quickly and easily and delivered excellent sound quality through this adapter. I would recommend it to anyone willing to spend the money to do away with wires. This is especially nice to use at the gym.
Needed to add another positive aspect of this. I just upgraded to a 5th Generation Nano. This Bluetooth adapter works with the new iPod Nano also. It sits a little weird and off centered, but the important thing is that it pairs and plays. Tickled pink!!!
