2.0 out of 5 stars Anyone for the byproduct of what people become after fame?
The only reason you found this link for an unreleased, discontinued CD is because Anyone For Doomsday? was cancelled just months before it was to be released. Something about Spider (PM5K's lead singer) not liking how it sounded uninfluenced him. That just goes to show you what Hollywood and fame can do to a band. Suddenly, five guys singing and rocking about silly space...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Album that Never Was, January 17, 2006

12. Megatronic (2:38)
13. The Future That Never Was (5:27)

Anyone for Doomsday? is an excellent transition from Tonight the Stars Revolt! to Transform. It's a shame this album was not officially released, as it is, in my opinion, one of their strongest works. AFD? plays faster and more clear than the trippy TTSR and is more experimental and true to the old PM5K sound than their newest Transform.
Megatronic, The Future That Never Was, and Tomorrow Is yesterday are my personal faves. The closing track delivers the usual "outro" in tradition of most PM5K albums; it's a track that leaves you with a good taste in your mouth when the album concludes. Megatronic is perhaps the most memorable on the CD, sounding a little like Powerman's older works yet brandishing a unique feel that is continued on neither this album nor the next.
I highly recommend this lost gem; buy it if you can or download it. PM5K fans and new listeners alike should benefit from this fine piece of music that unfortunately was chosen not to be released.

4.0 out of 5 stars Powerman 5000 Still Has It!!!! Should have put this CD out., June 23, 2003
This review is from: Anyone for Doomsday? (+1 Bonus Track) (Audio CD)
Humm.... I figured that this CD would have never been put out at all because of the 9/11 thing but it was released. You can order this CD off of the Powerman 5000 web site. Oh trust me this CD is worth buying. I am pritty sure everyone has heard the song Bombshell, well that is just one of the many songs that are amazing on this CD. The song "The One And Only" is really good it is driving and fast and hard, ya know everything we want in a PM5K album. What took me by suprize is the fact that PM5K put a song on here that is an interlude. 34 seconds of something weird. Oh ya and the song Rise, 54 ... seconds long, also another weird mover by PM5K. Well the only reason i gave it 4 stars is because Powerman 5000 never released this CD. FIrst off the CD is great and it is much better than the new one Transform. Transform is just a halfbaked idea and never really amounted to [anything], but that is just my opinion. But overall this is the best CD since Tonight The Stars Revolt!.

4.0 out of 5 stars Why they didn't go ahead and release this is beyond me..., May 21, 2003

2 weeks before this was supposed to be released back in August of 2001, PM5K pulled the plug, scratched this album and decided to go back to the drawing board and work on the 'Transform'. None of the 13 tracks from this album made it to 'Transform'.

Like the title says, why they didn't just release it is beyond me. It's a very solid listen and even at a short 33 minutes, they get their point across. It comes off like a very short, to the point, and welcome sequel of their previous 'Tonight The Stars Revolt'. Both albums have that same feel to it. And in my opinion, it's a little better than the very simple and semi redundant 'Transform' album that was just released.

5.0 out of 5 stars The end of the true Powerman 5000, July 3, 2006
This review is from: Anyone for Doomsday? (+1 Bonus Track) (Audio CD)
This would have been the last good Powerman 5000 album...if it was ever released. The only way you can listen to these songs is buy buying a RARE promo album, or downloading them off of the internet. Its really a shame, because this album would have been great. In my opinion everything after this "Album that never was" and before "Tonight the Stars Revolt" are just horrible. I was able to stand "Transform" to an extent, but it just isnt right you know? Thats not to say you shouldnt look into buying it, but it is distant from anything on the "album that never was" and "Tonight the Stars Revolt."

Powerman 5000 is dead now. Maybe someday Spider will come to his senses and release this album, or go back to the heavier Alternative Metal/Heavy Metal sound on "Tonight the Stars Revolt" and this unrealeased masterpiece instead of the mainstream Alternative Rock/Punk Rock sound they have now. Who knows...

4.0 out of 5 stars They released it!!!!!, February 29, 2004

Although it's about 3 years late, it's finally here! It's 10$ on www.powerman5000.com, and I'm not sure if it's in stores. I've listened to it, and I think it's a decent CD. I like it better than Transform, but Mega Kung Fu Radio and Tonight the Stars Revolt are better. I haven't heard much of True Force, so I won't rank that into this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sounds Pretty Darn Good To Me, October 9, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Anyone for Doomsday? (+1 Bonus Track) (Audio CD)
Without boring anyone with a long breakdown of the CD, here it is plain and simple: If you are a fan of PM5K, get this CD. It wasn't released because the band wasn't happy with the sound of it, but if you are a real fan, then you will like it. It can't be that bad if half of the songs have shown up as singles and/or on soundtracks.

And to Mr. Expert- this disc does indeed have an album cover, and it looks very similar to the Mega and Stars cover. I bought this CD at Best Buy for $29.99 because it was listed as an import. I have actually seen it show up at various Best Buy's over the last couple years (in multiple states), so there are some legit copies out there. And don't pay that knucklehead $120 for it, that's insane.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the best PM5K, too bad you can't get it anymore, August 22, 2004

This review is from: Anyone for Doomsday? (+1 Bonus Track) (Audio CD)
This is the best PM5K stuff ever recorded! This blows away the horrible release they followed up with, Transform. That CD is pure garbage. This CD is very hard driven in the vein of Tonight the Stars Revolt. Why they didn't follow through with this release officially is beyond me. Starting this disc off is Danger is Go and Bombshell which totally kick some tail. The following tracks are very good also in the typical PM5K style. (...) Do whatever it takes to get a copy of this CD, you will not be disappointed.

2.0 out of 5 stars Anyone for the byproduct of what people become after fame?, June 4, 2003
This review is from: Anyone for Doomsday? (+1 Bonus Track) (Audio CD)
Suddenly, five guys singing and rocking about silly space themes can just decide they don't want to release their CD when there's millions of fans waiting. What?! The original release for the disc would've had 13 tracks. Including the popular song "Bombshell", which was featured in the movie 'Evolution'; spawning my looking into this disc. Of those 13 songs, I have only heard about seven ("Bombshell", "Danger Is Go", "Tomorrow Is Yesterday", "The End Is Everything", "The One And Only", "Wake Up", and "The Future That Never Was"). I got all the songs via downloads, which is the only way you can "own" them without paying a boatload on eBay. And if you are looking for a "rare" copy, don't let anyone tell you they have the original artwork. Because there never was any. And most likely they're just selling a burned copy they downloaded on the internet as well. If there's not a picture with a promo sticker on it, don't bid. Either way, my recommendation is don't bother with Anyone For Doomsday?.

After the brilliant release of Tonight The Stars Revolt! I looked forward to this CD, and after hearing "Bombshell" in 'Evolution' I couldn't wait. Then suddenly it was gone. The album that never was. Why? Who knows. And as another reviewer so eloquently noted, NONE of these songs made it to Transform, PM5K's latest 2003 release. This fiasco caused me to lose a lot of respect for Powerman 5000 and lose interest in their music. Oh well, their loss.

The two songs "Bombshell" and "Danger Is Go" are both amazing songs; in all likelihood Powerman 5000's two best to date. I know that sounds stupid, but had the entire world been allowed to hear those songs as well, it might be a different story. It's really a shame. Finally, there is no excuse for not releasing this. Who cares if it's only 33 minutes long? Tonight The Stars Revolt! was only 39 minutes and that was a great CD. And their rarely heard True Force had only seven songs on it. I gave Anyone For Doomsday? 2 stars for the two great songs you would've found on it. But in all fairness, I can't give it more than that. It doesn't actually exist. If you're a die-hard Powerman 5000 fan, you've most likely downloaded these songs already. But if you don't live and die by what Powerman 5000 does--and what they release--stick with Tonight The Stars Revolt!, Mega!! Kung Fu Radio, or even True Force.
