5.0 out of 5 stars take a hit of experience
Anyone are doing excellent things for rock n'roll. As we all know, this particular artform is in a major slump these days and I think that Anyone will, in one way or another, jump start the movement. You can hear all sorts of influences on this LP from prog rock, acid and early nineties alternative. This record, however is a lot better than the sum of its parts. All of...

3.0 out of 5 stars The good within
At first listen, Anyone don't seem like anything special, just another alt rock band, and the first track from this CD made me want to turn it off. At track 2, however, I felt compelled to keep listening, and I continue to think they are a very talented band. The lyrics, don't mind me saying, suck my balls... I completely hate the lyrical composition. The vocalist can...

You can hear all sorts of influences on this LP from prog rock, acid and early nineties alternative. This record, however is a lot better than the sum of its parts. All of the instruments are brilliantly played, the songwriting is top notch and I've heard that their live show is definately a trip. This music is refreshingly smart, groove oriented and sexy. The lyrics need a bit of improvement. They are still excellent because you can tell that they are sung with honesty and passion. This band is out to change the world but they plan on doing that with love and great tunes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Band Of 2002 !, March 8, 2002

I have to say i love this band and i love this album. There is a few bands that come along and change the style of metal and i think we are about to expierience the beginning of a new overwhelming and exciting style of metal that has been lost since the days of ZEPPLIN and FLOYD . This album is true rock n roll all the way! If you like this i highly recommend LIVE ACID that is their self produced lp that came out in 99. Pesonally, I like that album a lot better.

5.0 out of 5 stars An epic recording! A modern masterpiece!, February 27, 2002

ANYONE is truly the most extraordinary band I've ever heard. I bought this CD because of the cover alone. It's electric! But the music itself is beyond anything I expected. I'm a fan for life. I rank it up there amongst my favorites: Dark Side of the Moon, Axis: Bold as Love and 2112 . . .

At track 2, however, I felt compelled to keep listening, and I continue to think they are a very talented band. The lyrics, don't mind me saying, suck my balls... I completely hate the lyrical composition. The vocalist can carry a melody, and an original one too, but he can't write for beans. That's the only real drawback, and of corse a song here and there that just don't flow at all. Overall, you're looking at a good CD, very nicely organized as well as original, but nothing amazing. Very hippie and very catchy, can't go wrong with that.

Wow! This is a great CD. I've had this one for a couple of years and it still sounds good today. I've given it to numerous friends as a gift, and everyone gets into it. Not a bad song here. The title of this review says it all. Enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Creative Rock at it's Best, May 6, 2002

This review is from: Anyone (Audio CD)
I was drawn to this cd through haring their single "Who World's Insane" on a cd sampler. The song impressed me at first but I didn't think it was good enough to buy their cd. Two days later, the damn song was still stuck in my head so I picked up Anyone's debut. Wow...

There really isn't any kind of rock band out there today who sounds even remotely like Anyone (I think that's a great name too). The album takes multiple listens before the grand scheme of it hits home and when it does it's quite rewarding. The album is a mish-mosh of hard-hitting acid rock, prog, and art metal with top notch instrumentation. This three piece group really sounds like a five member group (earlier reviewer said that too). The music is heavy but never dark. Riz Story's lyrics are positive and at times light-hearted, a rarity amongst so many angst-ridden rock bands of today's scene. His guitar playing is at times rather simple while flashy and arena-rock based at other times. The rhythm section is thunderous and completes the package nicely. Riz's voice reminds me of a few singers, namely Geddy Lee (without sounding overly nerdy), Robert Plant, and even Ozzy at times. It takes a little getting used to but so does the rest of the music.

All in all, this has to be one of the best releases of 2002 so far. Anyone will surely please fans of most types of rock music. Key tracks include "Whole World's Insane", "Don't Wake Me", "Giving Thrills", and "Fly". Give this album a chance, it'll be worth it, trust me.

Wow! How can I describe the bombastic, bone-chilling, atomic energy of these brilliant musicians. This CD is at the top of my list of all-time greats. It is triumphant, glorious and beautiful. They are in a class all their own, second to none. Long live Maximum Acid! Long live ANYONE!
