5.0 out of 5 stars Warm, cozy and flavorful, June 16, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Aux Anysetiers du Roy Herbes de Provence in Crock - 1oz (Misc.)
I actually saw this little charming herb mix on the Food Network cooking show; "Everyday Italian" with Giada De Laurentiis and simply had to have it. I have purchased the Herbes de Provence mix before and this one is as good as I expected it to be. Soft and mellow but with a nice flavor of warm summer, herbs and flowers and warm soil they grew out of. I was making some grilled chicken last night, first marinating it with some good olive oil with a sprinkle of salt and pepper and a tablespoon of the Herbes de Provence and let it sit for few minutes. The flavor was truly delightful and my meal got rave reviews.

It was actually really nice to get a break from the usual spices I use such as garlic and onion, this was still very flavorful but with a completely different taste. I often sprinkle this on when I roast potatoes or add some to scrambled eggs. The little jar is also beyond adorable and can house just about any spice or small objects. This is a great value as the precious reviewer mentioned; it would take more money to make this mix yourself, not to mention finding the lavender.

- Kasia S.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing Short of Fabulous!, June 22, 2008
This review is from: Aux Anysetiers du Roy Herbes de Provence in Crock - 1oz (Misc.)
I have been using Herbes de Provence for years. Sprinkle over potato wedges for oven baked potatoes, also make a hearty bread and add two heaping teaspoons of the Herbes de Provence and it is nothing short of fantastic! Bon Apetit!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product & Fabulous Service, October 23, 2007
This review is from: Aux Anysetiers du Roy Herbes de Provence in Crock - 1oz (Misc.)
This item is so worth the money. You actually get a lot more of the herbs than you think. This will last me quite awhile. The cost adds up to pretty much the same if you were to buy them separately and make your own mix. I had problems finding the lavendar in my area. The Frenchy Bee is to be commended for their quick service. I ordered this on Friday, it was here with the mailman on Monday morning. I will definately order from them again! The herbes de Provence smell divine. I've already used it and the smell from the oven had the family mouths watering.

I want to thank one of my Amazon friends for mentioning this product. I followed up by ordering this and have now used it on a couple different dishes--quite successfully I might add.

First, the basics. The herbs are a dependable lot, including thyme, basil (yum, one of my favorites!), savory, fennel, and something that really sets this apart--lavender flowers. Second, it even smells good! Once I received this (and the service is very quick, all to the good), I let the family inhale the scents, and they were all quite pleased.

Third, "'tis the taste that tells the tale." Following an Amazon friend's suggestion, I used it on roasted (baby red) potatoes. We all enjoyed this a whole lot. Then, I added it to the bread crumbs and parmesan cheese when making some fried artichoke hearts. The end result had a bit more taste to it than usual. So, two uses and two scores!

Fourth, the container itself is pretty cool. The lid is held on by a rubber band--needed because the package of herbs is almost too big for the container. Once the herbs are finished, the container can still have a variety of uses.

All in all, a neat product. If you enjoy adding some herbs to dishes, this is a combination well worth considering.

I saw this crock on Giada De Laurentiis' TV show and had to have one. I hadn't tried Herbes de Provence before, and really like the herbs themselves and their cute little "carrying case." I will definitely keep this one at the front of the pantry to get a lot of use out of. I love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Jazz up your dishes., December 1, 2008
This review is from: Aux Anysetiers du Roy Herbes de Provence in Crock - 1oz (Misc.)
A combination of thyme, basil, savory, fennel and lavender, Herbes de Provence is a wonderful addition to meats: to use it as a spice rub on your next poultry or meat dish, simply rub with olive oil and press the Herbes de Provence into the meat. It's also a fantastically easy way to spice up your veggies; it's divine when added with olive oil and coarse sea salt on new red potatoes, or sprinkle on a pan of veggies before oven-roasting. You can incorporate it into soups, homemade breads, or sprinkle on top of pizza. The sky's the limit!

4.0 out of 5 stars Delicious, but heavy on fennel, November 20, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Aux Anysetiers du Roy Herbes de Provence in Crock - 1oz (Misc.)
The little crock that the spices came in was worth the purchase. It's just like the one Giada used on Everyday Italian. The spice was good, but heavy on the fennel, so if you don't care for that flavor, use sparingly.
