5.0 out of 5 stars Another Wingmen Keeper, April 13, 2004

This review is from: Anything, Anywhere, Anytime (Mass Market Paperback)
Anything Anywhere Anytime is a full length Wingmen Warrior novel by Catherine Mann.

Major Jack "Cobra" Korba is lead pilot on a rescue mission to save the life of three hostages. One of those hostages is his soon to be ex-wife's sister. Major Monica Hyatt, flight surgeon, is bound and determined to be on this rescue mission. She wants to be there for her sister Sydney.

Jack and Monica are forced to work together on this mission. Seeing each other under such stressful circumstances makes them realize that they cannot give up on what they have together.

There are tow secondary romances that are as compelling as Jack and Monica's story.

Sydney Hyatt was on a humanity mission, her ideals cost her the love of Navy Seal Blake Gardner. Blake is a part of the team to help rescue the hostages. Seeing what Sydney is willing to go through helps him to realize that both their jobs are important.

Yasmine Halibiz has grown up a spoiled young woman. When her parents die she is left to struggle on her own. She gets a job on the converted air force base. Yasmine was not expecting to see her half sister Monica nor to find the man of her dreams, Colonel Drew Cullen.

Anything Anywhere Anytime will touch your heart with its joy, sorrow and passion. Catherine Mann has written another keeper.

4.0 out of 5 stars Overpopulated and undeveloped romances, March 25, 2008

This review is from: Anything, Anywhere, Anytime (Mass Market Paperback)
Air Force pilot Jack Korba leads a mission to rescue three humanitarian workers held hostage in war-torn Rubistan. His estranged bride Monica, a flight surgeon, is along for the ride as her sister Sydney is one of the captives. Monica comes face to face with her youngest sister Yasmine, the personification of their mother's greed to marry up when she left Monica's father. Yasmine is being used by her dictator uncle to infiltrate the US camp, but actually plans to defect with the help of sexy and much too old for her Colonel Drew Cullen. Will they be able to rescue the hostages before it's too late?

One of Mann's earlier Wingman Warriors novels, it's her first expanded full-length novel (most started as short Silhouette stories), and suffers from the same dilemma as her later stories - it's overpopulated, as she tosses in three romances that easily could have been their own stories and instead become short changed and underdeveloped. Despite the flaws, it is an engaging story filled with plenty of romance and action, and unfortunately, the clichéd requisite young virgin paired with a world weary older man that's been done far too many times.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book, June 20, 2005
This review is from: Anything, Anywhere, Anytime (Mass Market Paperback)
This book was great. The one problem I had is that I did not care for Monica. I thought she was a woman with a huge chip on her shoulder that was causing her problems in the rest of her relationships. I actually was more interested in Yasmine and Drew's relationship. I thought they had a more interesting dynamic.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another Wingman winner, September 4, 2011

Loved it and read it in two sittings. This book weaves the tales of three couples together. Dr. Monica Hyatt and Maj. Jack Korba (Cobra) are the couple the book is all about but as a side note you get the stories of her two sisters.

The story of Jasmine (half-sister and the youngest of the three) and Drew has a political slant as well as the older hero/younger woman thing going on. Not central to the book but a nice diversion for the few pages they took up throughout it.

Then there's the Sydney (second sister) and Blake storyline which asks the question of can this couple hold it together despite basic philosophical differences, and move past a devastating event, central to the book, that Sydney has experienced? This story was required in order to create the circumstances in which Jack and Monica found themselves. Again, Blake and Sydney didn't take up a lot of pages and their relationship, true to a Catherine Mann story, has a happy ending both for themselves and for yet another couple.

The major storyline is about flight surgeon Monica Hyatt (oldest of the three sisters) and Jack. You know from the start that these two are strong personalities but you sense that they'll get it together in the end. Their story is filled with great dialogue, chivalrous 'almost sex', then really good sex, and a deep love. I found myself laughing in many spots including the banter between men in different service uniforms (Navy, Army, USAF) and Jack's interaction with co-pilot Rodeo. It was obvious that they had a bond that went deeper than many blood brothers. I was sad in others like when Monica lost a patient; and in another spot I was applauding when Monica took charge of a situation that ultimately involved a lot of sweat but ended with smiles for both her and Jack (and vicariously, me.)

This is a well written book. Just a little dated in some spots and busy in others, but those don't detract. Give me a Catherine Mann book (anyday,) anywhere, anytime.
