Dr. Kendall Matthews is a no non-sense OB/Gyn, who specializes in high risk pregnancies. Coltrane "Cole" Highpoint is a multi-million dollar best-selling author, who ends up in the ER with an ankle injury, insulting every staff member he comes in contact with. Kendall is called down to the ER before her shift to take care of the disgruntled author. Kendall has had a crush on Cole since she was a child, but neither she nor Cole is prepared for the intensity of their mutual attraction when they meet again.

Kendall has been a hard-nosed workaholic since her first marriage failed after discovering her husband cheated on her. She's such a stickler for detail, the entire hospital staff walks on eggshells around her-- some even fear her. The last thing Coltrane wants is a relationship, epecially after his own divorce and an ex-girlfriend who almost ruined his career with lies. Kendall is misunderstood by everyone, except her best-friend Max. He knows that the only reason Kendall has turned into an "ice queen" is to protect her heart, but even he is unaware of Kendall's deepest secret. Cole is determined to break through the brick wall she'sll has erected around her heart, but he too has his guard up after his divorce and his self-serving former girlfriend.

ANYTHING BUT LOVE is set in the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington area. This is a romance about two people trying to let go of the hurts of the past and move on with their future. The story moves along at moderate pace while steering you through the intricacies of the relationships between Kendall, Cole and several of the secondary characters. Kendall and Cole both have strong personalities and opinions, but they will also go to any lengths to help someone in need. I love their professionalism and their caring spirits when it comes to those they love. The other characters offer words of wisdom and at times add to the tension and the drama, but they are there to lend and receive support. This story also touches on domestic violence, and how dangerous the situation can be for the abused spouse and those who try to help.

ANYTHING BUT LOVE is a good read and I recommend it.

Celya Bowers crafts another GROWN, SENSUAL, and tasteful romantic treat...UNFORGETTABLE characters, main and secondary...an INTRIGUING storyline...I was CAUGHT UP in this tale as Kendall and Cole make an effort to navigate their way through trust issues and also TRY to keep the people from their past involvements OUT of their budding relationship...she touches on quite a few social issues, such as divorce, custody issues, domestic violence, several dysfunctional family/relationship situations, yet through it all she keeps you ENTERTAINED...WELL DONE, Ms. Bowers!

Celya Bowers has created another wonderful lusty, sexy and loving story. The characters in her latest are so wonderful, head strong; career minded and most are loveable. There is requited love, danger, violence, unrequited love, secrets, money and drugs all in various doses. That any woman can appreciate.

Dr. Kendall Matthews - OB/GYN for high risk pregnancies who does not let anyone get close. James Matthews her ex - husband, the good for nothing cheating, lying Pharmaceutical Rep. and Kendall's brother Attorney Charles Stone who is Coltrane 's high school friend & classmate, now his friend and attorney, who is always there for his little sister before anything or anyone else.

Coltrane Xavier Highpoint - Famous Writer - has a lot of baggage especially his ex - wife Gabriella, the famous actress/diva otherwise known as "the Bitch from Hell". Coltrane's ex - girl friend, Holley the heartless news reporter who almost destroyed his career for the sake of her own. Coltrane's son, Taylor who is 16 - Who, thanks to his mother has been estranged from his father because Gabriella plays everyone so she can have what she wants.

I was swept up in their challenges and triumphs. I found myself so involved that it was as if I were a part of their story.

This is a must read.

I absolutely loved Kendall and Cole's story. Ceyla Bowers has done her thing with this book. Kendall and Cole knew each other when they were younger because was Cole and Kendall's brother were best friends. Needless to say Kendall had a crush on Cole 15 yrs ago and when they see each other in the ER 15 yrs later, Kendall tries to deny her feelings because she was hurt that Cole didn't acknowledge her 15 yrs ago. Cole has been through alot with his ex wife and she has kept his son from him and lead each of them to believe the other didn't want anything to do with the other. I won't give anymore away. This is a really great read!

Dr. Kendall Matthews is a 40 year old divorcee and OB/GYN doctor who is not looking for love again after her divorce from her unfaithful husband. She is all business and the love of her life is her dog Jordan. Her Mom wants her to find love again and marriage because she wants grandchildren. Coltrane Highpoint is a famous author who moves back home after a bitter divorce and a conniving ex-girlfriend who almost ruined his career. He is also the best friend of Kendall's brother and she had a crush on him when she was sixteen. He broke her heart without knowing it because of a rude comment she over heard while he was on the phone about not wanting to be at a juvenile birthday party. She has hated him every since that comment. He ends up in the emergency room at the hospital that she works at and raises hell with everyone who tries to treat him until she comes in and puts him in his place. Max is her physician's assistant and her best friend and see that Colt has an affect on Kendall and pushes to get them together despite the fact of his own marital problems. Kendall's ex returns and tries to win her back thinking that she is still the weak woman that he was once married to. Because of Cole's love and compassion for her, the brick wall that she has built up over the years slowly comes tumbling down and she finally realizes that she was not the reason for the breakup of her marriage. She is stronger because of Cole and he too finds that the hurt that his ex-wife and last girlfriend caused makes him a stronger person as well and ready for love again. They both go through a lot of drama because of their ex's but together their love prevails. This storyline was so good that I didn't put this book down until the end. It was worth the read from the first page until the last.

Agreed with the other reviewers and I enjoyed this book. It ended too soon.In ANYTHING BUT LOVE, Ms Bowers gave us Kendall and Cole, two people on their journey to growth, fulfillment, and love.They both needed to emerge from their "comfort zones". All the secondary characters especially the MOMs were believable and strong.Loved how Cole bonded with Mark, Kendall's PA / best friend. In return, he could be there for Mark. The trip to the NBA basketball game was a HOOT! Just settle back and enjoy!!! You'll recognize matchmakers, troublemakers, and folks who found "true love"... Thanks Ms Celya.

Kendall Matthews is top in her field as a OB/GYN, but not only that Kendall also put the fear in her fellow co-worker with exception of Max.

Coltrane Highpoint is a famous author who has return to his hometown to get his life together after living in New York.

Kendall & Cole first meeting is when he is at the hospital with a sprain ankle and Cole is not a very good patience so they call in Kendall hoping that she can calm him down, but once she find out who is making such a ruckus in her hospital she is not happy at all.

Once she come in the room and Cole sees her he has a feeling that they know each other and she explain that she his best friend Charlie sister. Kendall has been in love with Cole since she was 16 yrs old but during her party she overheard a conversation that just crush her.

The instant attraction between the couple you see that they are both trying to fight. Although Cole is attracted to Kendall he notice how she has this wall up around her heart but that is due to the fact that she caught her ex husband cheating on her and it wasn't the first time, but this was the final straw and Kendall file for divorce and up that wall. Kendall had been working non stop since and the thought of any man in her life was not possible she mad sure of that. So Cole knew he had his work cut out for him.

Cole Highpoint is not without his own issue. He is a well know author and while in NY had just ink this multimillion dollar deal and during this time he was dating a journalist who in the end cost Cole his deal. For Cole that was a time when he decided that it was time to leave the big city and come back home.

Cole & Kendall has to deal with their ex's in this story. Kendall ex husband come back to town to try and win her heart again, but she is not have it and Cole has to deal with his ex wife who wants to take him to court because their 16 year old son decided he wants to come an live with him. During the story you will see that Cole ex wife had been telling lies to Cole and their son Taylor and now father and son are trying to have a relatioship that they both was denied by his ex wife. Then there is the ex girlfriend who come to town to do a interview with Kendall and Cole but her agenda is to try to get Cole back.

What I like about this story is that with all of these people trying to interfer with Cole & Kendall relationsip that they learn to trush the other. There was a part where Cole could have act a fool but he thought about and decided to trust Kendall.

We know that divorce, domestic violence and child custody occur everyday in our world but Celya has given us that and much more. Celya has also give us the power of love and to know that we can over come anything. Al thought Kendall has put that wall up around her heard but once it can down with Cole help we saw a new Kendall a more caring and we saw that not only did Cole heal Kendall but she heal him as well. With Kendall love Cole learn to trust again.

You will love this book from beginning to end.
