5.0 out of 5 stars Anything That Gets You Through the Night, June 29, 2010
Edge of Dawn is the side project for Seabound's Frank M. Spinath. I discovered Edge of Dawn shortly after I got into Seabound a few years ago. I liked what I heard when I bought Flight (Lux) EP but it really didn't sink its hooks into me like Seabound's music did. It wasn't until a couple of weeks ago when I found some tracks of the new Edge of Dawn album Anything That Gets You Through the Night online did the music resonated with me. I was particularly drawn to "Save My Soul". I loved the lyrics and the melodies. I was truly moved by the lyrics. I also enjoyed "Lucid Dreams" with Christa Belle of Hungry Lucy and "Siren's Call". The music isn't quite as synthpoppy like Seabound. The beats are little harder than Seabound's. Overall Anything That Gets You Through the Night is a solid effort from Edge of Dawn. I certainly think it is worth getting for fans of Seabound and/or Metropolis Records.

4.0 out of 5 stars Metamorphic Restlessness, December 28, 2010
By
To start, Edge of Dawn is one remarkable group. I've been a fan of Frank M. Spinath for years now. For you new combers to the EBM scene, Edge of Dawn are highly respected for there club hits -- Elegance & Pray For Love.

Edge of Dawn's 2010 release of Anything That Gets You Through The Night, is a step forward in the dark metamorphic restlessness of EBM. This 2010 release gives a great sense of isolation and detachment ie. Valid World, & Save My Soul.

The BPM of: Valid Word - 130bpm, Stage Fright - 130bpm, In Your Sleep - 130bpm, Falling - 130bpm, & Capsized - 133bpm, will get any underground dance floor stomping.

This album direction is different from pasts releases of Edge of Dawn, which might not please every EBM club goer. I do enjoy the new sound that --Anything That Gets You Through The Night-- holds. I find it quite refreshing to the land of EBM.

My favorite song on this release is Stage Fright. The song's lyrics and tune is 100% me.

Pick this release up and give it a few spins. I guarantee it will grow onto you.

Take the final stride into the water...

-Xonic

5.0 out of 5 stars Happy for a new taste of Dawn, June 12, 2010

I've come to expect quite a bit from Edge of Dawn because they deliver whenever they are asked to. Whether it is in the voal department or it is in the beat department, they always have something great to offer their listener. So, when i saw this was coming out, I knew i had to get it.

i was right in that assumption.

Since all of these songs can be listened to by you in segments, it doesn't really help for me to say "you should get this because..." Instead, i want to point out that this album is not like the last albums and yet it is, taking something that was great and stepping up again. I expected it from Seabound and I expected it from this spin-off and, really, why shouldn't I? Everyone I know that has listened to it has bought it and that, in itself, says a lot.

Truly, if you like a beat and vocals that can move you, then this is for you. You don't have to buy an older disc to get into them either - you simply plug this in and you play it, knowing this is for you. you don't have to like Electronics or EBM or any branded type of music to get into this. All you have to do is appreciate singers that can sing and bands that can make the body want to move and you have something you want.

Personally, I thought music like that had gone to that great little place in the sky. But it hasn't and, happily, you can see it simply by trying it on for size. I recommend it with all my might and then some but, as I said, don't take my word for it. You simply check out the songs one at a time, let them sink in, and see how it sounds.
It sells itself - and it creates fans after they listen to it for a while. Simply give it a chance and find out.
